Chris Molnar
Chris Molnar is a writer, editor, filmmaker and publisher. He is the co-founder of The Writer's Block bookstore in Las Vegas, and editorial director of Archway Editions, the literary imprint of powerHouse Books distributed by Simon & Schuster. Work A graduate of Calvin College with an MFA from Columbia University, Molnar has written criticism for ''cokemachineglow'', ''BOMB'', and ''The Shadow'', among others, and fiction for outlets such as ''Vol. 1 Brooklyn''. Prior to The Writer's Block, he worked with the other co-founders as store manager at 826NYC/The Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. A longtime resident of Bullet Space, the artists' collective and former squat in the East Village, he has also written texts for the nearby Ki Smith Gallery, and curated for the literary KGB Bar. Currently he runs Archway Editions, the literary imprint of powerHouse Books. The Writer's Block
The Writer's Block is an independent bookseller, publisher, and literacy educator in downtown Las Vegas. The Writer's Block was established in 2014 by 826NYC co-founder Scott Seeley and Drew Cohen. It was opened with former BSSco. store manager and Archway Editions publisher Chris Molnar. It is the first independent bookstore in Las Vegas, and second in the state of Nevada. Behind the bookstore front at the original Fremont St. location was the literacy education component of the Writer's Block, known as Codex. Similar in layout to the educational area behind 826NYC's Superhero Supply Store, Codex also featured movable walls, tables and desks. James Cañón
James Cañón is a Colombian-American writer. He's the author of the award-winning '' Tales from the Town of Widows''. Cañón was born and raised in Ibagué, Colombia. He writes fiction primarily, though he has also written essays. His short stories and essays have been published in numerous magazines in the U.S., Belgium and France. Cyrée Jarelle Johnson
Cyrée Jarelle Johnson (born 1990) is an American poet, editor, and librarian. He co-founded the literary magazine ''Deaf Poets Society'' and is currently a librarian at Pratt Institute. His debut poetry collection ''Slingshot'' received a Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry. Early life and education Johnson was raised in Piscataway, New Jersey, and grew up a household he described as "abusive". He received his bachelor's degree from Hampshire College and completed his MFA in creative writing at Columbia University in 2019. Johnson was diagnosed with autism when he was about four years old and with lupus in college. He stated in an interview for Mashable, "Autism scholarship characterizes folks on the spectrum as 'black and white thinkers' — and that's quite true for me. John Farris (poet And Novelist)
John Farris (1940–2016) was an American poet and novelist who lived in the East Village neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan. He is the author of a volume of verse ''It's not About Time'' which was published by Fly by Night Press () in 1993. He is the also author of the novel ''The Ass's Tale'' published Unbearable Books (). Farris won the 2013 Acker Award in the fiction for the volume. Farris was a member of the rag tag literary collective "The Unbearables". Early in his career he spent some time in the orbit around the Civil Rights leader Malcolm X. Farris died of a heart attack in January 2016 at his flat at the Bullet Space collective in the East Village of Manhattan. A memorial celebrating Farris's life and art was held at the Judson Memorial Church in New York City on the evening of April 29, 2016.
