Chris Minns
Christopher John Minns (born 17 September 1979) is an Australian politician who is the leader of the NSW Labor Party. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Kogarah for the Labor Party at the 2015 New South Wales state election. Minns was previously a Labor Party official, a ministerial adviser, a firefighter and at a youth mental health charity. He has served as a Shadow Minister in the opposition frontbench. Biography The son of a school principal, Minns was raised in the St George area, where he studied at Marist College Kogarah. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of New England in Armidale and attended Princeton University in the United States where he was awarded a Masters in Public Policy (2012–13). Minns is married and has three sons with his wife Anna. 2019 Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch) Leadership Election
An election for the leadership of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party was held between 7 and 29 June 2019. The election was triggered by the resignation of Leader Michael Daley on 25 March 2019. The election was a combined vote by the party membership and the Labor members of the Parliament of New South Wales, with each component weighted equally. The party members were sent their ballots on 7 June and had until 21 June to return them, while the parliamentary caucus met on 29 June to cast their votes. On 29 June, Jodi McKay was announced as the victor of the contest, winning 60.5% of the combined vote. An election for the leadership of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party, the party of opposition in the New South Wales, was held on 10 November 2018. The election was triggered following the resignation of Opposition Leader Luke Foley on 8 November 2018. Foley's deputy Michael Daley who became acting leader upon Foley's resignation was formalised into the leadership when he won the caucus vote beating Shadow Water Minister Chris Minns, 33 votes to 12. An election for the leadership of the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party was held in June 2021., triggered by the resignation of Leader Jodi McKay on 28 May 2021. Michael Daley
Michael John Daley (born 1 November 1965) is an Australian politician who was the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from November 2018 to March 2019. He is currently a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Maroubra for the Australian Labor Party since 2005. Daley is aligned with the Labor Right faction. Biography Daley is of Irish Catholic background. He was educated at Marcellin College, Randwick, finishing in 1983. He spent 13 years as a Customs officer with the Australian Customs Service during which time he studied law at night. Luke Foley
Luke Aquinas Foley (born 27 July 1970) is a former Australian Labor Party politician who served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from 2015 to 2018. Foley was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 19 June 2010 until his resignation to contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Auburn at the 2015 New South Wales election. Mark Robert Buttigieg (born 11 June 1966) is an Australian politician and trade unionist. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council for the Australian Labor Party at the 2019 New South Wales state election. Early life Buttigieg was born in Sydney to Maltese parents Victor and Carmen who immigrated to Australia from Malta in the 1950s. John Robertson (New South Wales Politician)
John Cameron "Robbo" Robertson (born 16 November 1962) is a former Australian politician who served as the leader of the Labor Party in New South Wales from 2011 to 2014. Before entering politics he was prominent in the union movement. Robertson was born in Sydney, and worked as an electrician before becoming an organiser for the Electrical Trades Union. He became an industrial officer with the Labor Council of New South Wales in 1991, and was elected assistant secretary in 1998 and secretary in 2001.
