Chris McNulty
Chris McNulty (born 1953) is Australian-born jazz Singing, vocalist. Career McNulty began her professional career singing in pop bands in hotels and clubs in and around Melbourne, Australia. She toured Australia and SE Asia as a member of all the girl band Daughters of Zeus and several pop, funk, & R&B bands. She arrived in the United States in 1988, having been awarded an international study grant from the Music Board of the Australia Council. Two years later, her first U.S. album, ''Waltz for Debbie'', was released. McNulty's original vocalisations for Miles Davis's "Blue in Green" became the song's official, published lyric (Warner Chapell, 1990). Singing
Singing is the act of creating musical sounds with the voice. A person who sings is called a singer, artist or vocalist (in jazz and/or popular music). Singers perform music (arias, recitatives, songs, etc.) that can be sung with or without accompaniment by musical instruments. Singing is often done in an ensemble of musicians, such as a choir. Gary Thomas (born June 10, 1961) is an American jazz saxophonist and flautist, born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of Jack DeJohnette's Special Edition band and has worked with John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Jim Hall, Dave Holland, Greg Osby, Wayne Shorter, Ravi Coltrane, Cassandra Wilson, Wallace Roney, Steve Coleman, and Miles Davis. Discovery Records
Discovery Records was a United States-based record company and label known for its recordings of jazz music. Discovery was founded in 1948 by jazz fan and promoter Albert Marx. The record label eventually would record jazz notables such as Dizzy Gillespie, Georgie Auld, Red Norvo, Art Pepper, Joe Pass and Charles Mingus for issue on his Discovery label headquartered in Hollywood, California. Discovery later recorded such performers as singers Lorez Alexandria and Ernie Andrews, and Grammy winning composer-band leader Gerald Wilson. Marx had first become artistic for later Musicraft Records in 1944 before starting his own label. In the 1970s Musicraft Records was revived through Discovery/Trend by Albert Marx in Los Angeles. Matthew Edward Wilson (born September 27, 1964) is an American jazz drummer. Early life and education Wilson was born in Knoxville, Illinois. He studied percussion at Wichita State University. Anita Wardell
Anita Wardell (born 23 August 1961) is an English jazz singer, renowned for her scat singing. Wardell was born in Guildford, Surrey, in England and raised in Australia. She won the BBC Best of Jazz Award in 2006, and lives in London. She teaches an annual jazz course in the Loire, France. Wardell is an accomplished scat singer and is noted for her vocalised version of Lee Morgan's solo from "Moanin'". Tony Reedus
Tony Reedus (22 September 1959 – 16 November 2008) was an American jazz drummer. Reedus first gained attention performing in Woody Shaw's band during the 1980s. He played with Dave Stryker, Mulgrew Miller, Art Blakey, Mike Nock, Kenny Garrett, James Williams, and Anthony Wonsey, among others, and recorded three albums as a leader. He died of a pulmonary embolism at Kennedy Airport at the age of 49. He had just returned from a tour in Italy with pianist Mike LeDonne.
