''The Chris Matthews Show'' was a half-hour weekend news and political round table program produced by NBC News. It was taped in Washington, D.C., and nationally syndicated by NBCUniversal Television Distribution. The program debuted on September 22, 2002 and its final episode aired July 21, 2013. The program usually aired on Sunday mornings before or after the Sunday morning talk shows, usually on NBC affiliates, CW affiliates or their sister stations The Chris Matthews Show also aired on WB affiliates from 2002 to 2006. Chris Matthews served as the program’s moderator and was joined each week by a rotating group of four journalists. Either Andrea Mitchell or Chuck Todd, both of NBC News, would occasionally sit in for him. Christopher John Matthews (born December 17, 1945) is an American political commentator, retired talk show host, and author. Matthews hosted his weeknight hour-long talk show, ''Hardball with Chris Matthews'', on America's Talking and later on MSNBC, from 1997 until March 2, 2020. He announced on his final episode that he was retiring, following an accusation that he had made inappropriate comments to a ''Hardball'' guest four years earlier. Howard David Fineman (born November 17, 1948) is an American journalist who is global editorial director of the AOL Huffington Post Media Group. John Arthur Heilemann (born January 23, 1966) is an American journalist and national affairs analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. With Mark Halperin, he co-authored ''Game Change'' (2010) and '' Double Down'' (2013), books about presidential campaigning.
