Chris Maslanka
Christopher M. Maslanka (born 27 October 1954) is a British writer and broadcaster, specialising in puzzles and problem solving. He was born in Clapham, London, but was brought up by his uncle and aunt in Lowdham, Nottingham. He was educated at The Becket School, Nottingham, where he was a successful chess player, and went on to study physics at St Catherine's College, Oxford. His first book – ''The Pyrgic Puzzler'' – a collection of 80 puzzles with illustrations by Michael Harrington, was written without any particular view to publication, but was taken up by Iris Murdoch who wrote an introduction for it in which she said that although she's not a great solver of puzzles, the book may be 'read as literature' just as in the case of Wittgenstein's ''Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus'' and the Bible. Clapham
Clapham () is a suburb in south west London, England, lying mostly within the London Borough of Lambeth, but with some areas (most notably Clapham Common) extending into the neighbouring London Borough of Wandsworth. History Early history The present day Clapham High Street is on the route of a Roman road. The road is recorded on a Roman monumental stone found nearby. According to its inscription, the stone was erected by a man named Vitus Ticinius Ascanius. It is estimated to date from the 1st century. (The stone was discovered during building works at Clapham Common South Side in 1912. It is now placed by the entrance of the former Clapham Library, in the Old Town.) According to the history of the Clapham family, maintained by the College of Heralds, in 965 King Edgar of England gave a grant of land at Clapham to Jonas, son of the Duke of Lorraine, and Jonas was thenceforth known as Jonas "de fClapham". Andrew Peach
Andrew Peach is a radio presenter in the United Kingdom. He presents a daily news and phone-in show on BBC Radio Berkshire which was named 'Best Local Radio Show in the UK' at the 2021 Radio Academy ARIA Awards. He also presents network programmes such as PM and the Six O'Clock News on BBC Radio 4, Newshour and The Newsroom on BBC World Service and reads news bulletins on BBC Radio 2. Peach celebrated 30 years on BBC Radio on 10th October 2022. He received messages from Theresa May, Zoe Ball, Jane Hill, Jeremy Vine, Tim Davie and Dermot O'Leary. Life Andrew Peach was born in Bloxwich and educated at Queen Mary's Grammar School in Walsall and St Edmund Hall, Oxford where he achieved an MA in Modern History. He lives in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire with his wife and two children. He is patron of Thames Hospice, which runs hospices in Windsor and Ascot.
