Chris Jenkins (powerlifter)
Christopher Jenkins is a Welsh powerlifter and strongman. He is a former junior World powerlifting champion and holds Welsh, British, European and World records in the powerlifts. Jenkins has been described as one of the greatest junior powerlifters of all time. In Strongman Chris Jenkins is a two time winner of Wales Strongest Man U90kg. Early life Chris Jenkins was raised in Port Talbot and was a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr. Jenkins began weight training at age 11 to improve his running at school. In 1997 he began boxing with the Welsh Boxing Federation now Welsh Boxing Association and holds an amateur record of 7–0. Jenkins also holds a 1st Dan black belt in Wado Ryu karate under the Bushi Kai. WADO (1280 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to New York City. It is owned and operated by Uforia Audio Network, a subsidiary of Univision. World Powerlifting Congress
The World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) is a powerlifting federation hosting meets around the world. The federation hosts competitions which allow multi-ply equipment, but hosted a Raw world championship for the first time in 2009. The WPC was established in 1986 and has affiliates in 46 countries. In 1999, the WPC started to host drug tested competitions under the AWPC (Amateur World Powerlifting Congress) banner, with both raw and equipped contests. The competitive season comes to an end each year in November, as qualified lifters from different countries compete in the annual WPC World Championships. The United States affiliate for the WPC is the American Powerlifting Federation (APF).
