Chris Hayes (baseball)
Christopher Andrew Hayes (born December 23, 1973) is an American college baseball coach and former third baseman. He is the head baseball coach at Jacksonville University. Hayes played college baseball at Jacksonville for coach Terry Alexander from 1992 to 1995. Amateur career Hayes attended Englewood High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Hayes then enrolled at Jacksonville University, to play college baseball for the Jacksonville Dolphins baseball team. As a freshman at Jacksonville in 1992, Hayes had a .303 batting average, a .362 on-base percentage (OBP) and a .423 SLG. As a sophomore in 1993, Hayes batted .361 with a .549 SLG, 4 home run, and 37 RBIs. In the 1994 season as a junior, Hayes hit .369 with a .552 SLG, 5 home run, and 49 RBIs. Hayes was drafted in the 35th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners, but Hayes opted to return to Jacksonville for his senior season. Jacksonville Dolphins Baseball
The Jacksonville Dolphins baseball team represents Jacksonville University, which is located in Jacksonville, Florida. The Dolphins are an NCAA Division I college baseball program that competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference. They began competing in Division I in 1969 and joined the Atlantic Sun Conference in 1999 after 20 years in the Sun Belt Conference. The Jacksonville Dolphins play all home games on-campus at John Sessions Stadium. Since their promotion to Division I in 1969, the Dolphins have played in 14 NCAA Tournaments, advancing as far as the regional final in 1976. Over their 20 seasons in the Sun Belt Conference, they won two conference regular season titles and one conference tournament. The 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 19, 2021. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2021 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 30, 2021. The Mississippi State Bulldogs won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions. The 2019 ASUN Conference baseball tournament was held at Melching Field at Conrad Park, home field of the Stetson Hatters baseball team in DeLand, Florida, from May 22 through 25. The winner of the tournament, Liberty, claimed the ASUN Conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament.
