Christopher Gilliland (born 1 April 1983) is a Northern Irish-born Irish professional darts player, Who currently playing in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Justin Thompson (born 8 January 1969) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Career A veteran of the DPA circuit, he won the WDF Asia-Pacific Cup Singles in 2016, plus the Geelong Classic. World Masters (darts)
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. The 2017 Winmau World Masters was a major tournament on the BDO/ WDF calendar for 2017. It took place from 25–27 September at the Bridlington Spa Hall, which hosted the stage element of the event for the first time since 2009. Glen Durrant was the defending men’s champion after defeating Mark McGeeney in last year’s final by 6 sets to 3 but he failed to defend his title after losing to eventual champion Krzysztof Ratajski in the quarter-finals. 2018 BDO World Darts Championship
The 2018 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 41st World Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 33rd staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. Glen Durrant who was the defending men's champion, successfully retained his title, beating Mark McGeeney 7–6 in the final after the match went to a tie break. Durrant became the fifth player to defend a world title following his first win, after Eric Bristow, Raymond van Barneveld, Adrian Lewis and Gary Anderson. McGeeney became the second man, following Mike Gregory in 1992, to lose a world final having had darts at double to win.
