Chris Getzlaf
Chris Getzlaf (born January 9, 1983) is a Canadian former professional football slotback who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2007 to 2017. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 CFL Draft, 33rd overall, by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and was later traded that season to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He has also been a member of the Edmonton Eskimos. Prior to turning pro, Getzlaf played with the junior team Prairie Thunder and the collegiate team Regina Rams in his hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan. Early and personal life Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Getzlaf grew up playing ice hockey in addition to football with his younger brother, Ryan, an NHL All-Star, two-time Olympic gold medalist and Stanley Cup champion for the Anaheim Ducks. Regina Rams
The Regina Rams represent the University of Regina, located in Regina, Saskatchewan in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The Rams joined U Sports in 1999 and have competed in the Canada West Conference since then. The program has won one U Sports football conference championship, in 2000, and the team has made one appearance in the Vanier Cup championship game. The Rams nickname is used by the university's football team only; all of the other teams at the school are named the Regina Cougars. The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Lions compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL), and play their home games at BC Place. The Calgary Stampeders are a professional Canadian football team based in Calgary, Alberta. The Stampeders compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). 2008 Saskatchewan Roughriders Season
The 2008 CFL season, 2008 Saskatchewan Roughriders finished in 2nd place in the West Division with a 12–6 record for the second consecutive year. It was their 51st season in the Canadian Football League. The Roughriders attempted to repeat as Grey Cup champions, but, due to an abundance of injuries, lost to the BC Lions in the West Semi-Final game. Off-season Several months after capturing the 2007 Grey Cup, 2007 CFL coach of the Year Kent Austin stepped down as head coach to become the offensive co-ordinator at Ole Miss. 2006–07 Anaheim Ducks Season
The 2006–07 Anaheim Ducks season was the 14th season of operation (13th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. It was the team's 1st season as the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks clinched their first Pacific Division title in team history with 110 points, and defeated the Ottawa Senators in the Stanley Cup Final four games to one. It was the first Stanley Cup in franchise history, as well as the first time a team in the state of California won the Stanley Cup. Off-season Under new ownership, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim changed their team and arena's name, logo and player uniforms. The 95th Grey Cup was held in Toronto at the Rogers Centre on November 25, 2007. The Grey Cup, first awarded in 1909, is the championship game of the Canadian Football League. It was played between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, with the Roughriders winning 23–19. Jason Armstead (born September 18, 1979) is a former professional Canadian football and American football kick returner and wide receiver. Armstead is currently a free-agent. He was most recently a member of the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2003. Corey Holmes
Corey Holmes (born November 19, 1976) is a former professional Canadian football running back and the former mayor of Metcalfe, Mississippi. College career Holmes attended Mississippi Valley State University and played eight games in his senior season with the Delta Devils. He was named SWAC all-Conference and SWAC all-American Player of the Year. He had 1,167 yards on 189 carries and finished the year with 10 touchdowns. He led the team in scoring for the season with 60 points and he played on special teams. In 2014, Holmes was inducted into the Mississippi Valley State Hall of Fame. The Stanley Cup (french: La Coupe Stanley) is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion. It is the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to a professional sports franchise in North America, and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) considers it to be one of the "most important championships available to the sport".
