Chris Fuamatu-Maʻafala
Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala (; born March 4, 1977) is an American former professional football player who was a fullback for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Utah Utes. He was selected in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Steelers. Early life Fuamatu-Ma'afala was born and raised in Kalihi, Hawaii. He grew up in the island of Oahu's most notorious housing project known for murders, gangs, and illegal drug activities, Mayor Wrights Housing. He utilized his athletic abilities as a means of staying away from negative influences. He attended Princess Ka'iulani Elementary School and Central Intermediate School. Fuamatu-Ma'afala attended Saint Louis School in Honolulu. As a senior, he rushed for 883 yards on just 93 carries (9.5 yards per car. avg.). Halfback (American Football)
A halfback (HB) is an offensive position in American football, whose duties involve lining up in the offensive backfield and carrying the ball on most rushing plays, i.e. a running back. When the principal ball carrier lines up deep in the backfield, and especially when that player is placed behind another player (usually a blocking back), as in the I formation, that player is instead referred to as a tailback. The UTEP Miners football program represents University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in the sport of American football. The Miners compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the West Division of Conference USA (CUSA). They are coached by Dana Dimel. Western Athletic Conference
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, Washington (state), Washington, and Texas. The 1995 NCAA Division I-A football season was the first year of the Bowl Alliance. Tom Osborne led Nebraska to its second straight national title with a victory over Florida in the Fiesta Bowl. This matchup was only possible because of the new Bowl Alliance. Under the old system, Nebraska would have been tied to the Orange Bowl and Florida to the Sugar Bowl. The Bowl Alliance created a national championship game which would rotate between the Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta Bowls free of conference tie-ins and featuring the No. 1 and No. 2 teams as chosen by the Bowl Alliance Poll.
