Chris Carr (born Christos H. Karaberis, April 6, 1914 – September 16, 1970) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in World War II. Biography Carr was born Christos H. Karaberis in Manchester, New Hampshire. He joined the Army from his hometown in October 1942 and by October 1, 1944, was serving as a sergeant in Company L, 337th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division. On that day and the following day, near Guignola, Italy, he single-handedly attacked and captured five German machine gun emplacements. For these actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor a year later on November 1, 1945. After the war, he legally changed his name from "Christos Karaberis" to "Chris Carr". He reached the rank of sergeant first class and served in the Korean War before leaving the Army. Carr died at age 56 and was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, California. Chris Carr (born May 6, 1967 in Stockton, California) is an American motorcycle dirt-track racer and seven-time winner of the A.M.A. Grand National Championship. He has also competed as a motorcycle road racer at the national level and was a motorcycle land speed world record holder. Racing career Carr began his racing career as an amateur racer in 1983. He turned professional in 1985, finishing seventh in the Grand National Championship earning him the A.M.A. Rookie of the Year Award. Carr won his first Grand National in August 1986 at the Peoria TT and finished the season ranked fourth in the championship. He slowly climbed the points standing each year. In 1989, he became a member of the Harley-Davidson factory racing team. After finishing second to his Harley-Davidson teammate, Scott Parker in 1990 and 1991, he finally claimed the Grand National Championship in 1992. Chris Dean Carr (born March 12, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 2nd round (56th overall) of the 1995 NBA draft, and currently an assistant coach and director of student-athlete development for the Kansas State University women's basketball team. Carr played six seasons in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics. Carr also appeared in the 1997 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and made it to the final round, before losing to Kobe Bryant. Carr played collegiately at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Charles Christopher "Chris" Carr (born April 30, 1983) is a former American football cornerback, punt returner, and kick returner in the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He also played for the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints.
