Chris Brauchle
Chris Brauchle (born May 24, 1967) is an American retired professional soccer player and current youth soccer coach. Brauchle grew up in Montville, New Jersey, and graduated from Montville Township High School in the class of 1985. Playing career In 1989, Brauchle scored the game-winning goal against the University of Vermont Catamounts to send Rutgers Scarlet Knights to the NCAA final four for the first time since 1967. The goal was scored in the 18th minute of stoppage time when Brauchle met a cross from Dave Muller and pushed it past Jim St. Andre. Following his college career, Brauchle joined Bayern Munich Amateure in the German Oberliga and remained at the club for two seasons. He then returned to the United States, joining the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the American Professional Soccer League. Montville is a township in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 21,528, reflecting an increase of 689 (+3.3%) from the 20,839 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 5,239 (+33.6%) from the 15,600 counted in the 1990 Census. The Oberliga (, "Upper League"; plural: ''Oberligen'') is the fifth tier of the German football league system. Before the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008, it was the fourth tier. At the end of the 2011–12 season the number of Oberligas was increased from eleven to fourteen. The 1996 Major League Soccer season was the inaugural season of Major League Soccer. It was also the 84th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer, and the 18th with a national first-division league in the United States. Overview Preparation for first season Major League Soccer had originally intended to begin competitive action in 1995. Various difficulties forced the league to postpone its first season until 1996. In preparation for its first season, the league began signing what it called marquee players, beginning with Tab Ramos on January 3, 1995. Beginning in October 1995, the league apportioned the marquee players in the 1996 MLS Inaugural Allocations. Each team received two national team and two foreign players in the allocation. The USL Second Division (commonly referred to as USL-2) was a professional men's soccer league in the United States, operated by United Soccer Leagues (USL).
