Chris Appelgren
Chris Appelgren, also known as Chris Applecore, was owner and president of Lookout! Records from, 1997 when label founder Larry Livermore and partner Patrick Hynes retired, until 2012 when the label folded due to financial troubles and non-payment of royalties. In addition, Appelgren has created original artwork and album designs for many punk bands including Blatz, Green Day, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, The Donnas, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Appelgren also performed as vocalist in bands The Pattern, The PeeChees The PeeChees (aka The PeeChee All-Season Sensations) were an American punk band formed in 1994 by Lookout! Lookout! Records
Lookout Records (stylized as Lookout! Records) was an independent record label, initially based in Laytonville, California and later in Berkeley, focusing on punk rock. Established in 1987, the label is best known for having released Operation Ivy’s only album, ''Energy'', and Green Day's first two albums, ''39/Smooth'' and ''Kerplunk''. Following the departure of co-founder Larry Livermore in 1997, the label departed from its "East Bay sound" and proved unable to match early success. In 2005 the label ran into financial difficulties after several high-profile artists rescinded the rights to their Lookout Records material. After a period of rapid contraction the label slowly expired, terminating operations and removing its music from online distribution channels early in 2012. The PeeChees
The PeeChees (aka The PeeChee All-Season Sensations) were an American punk band formed in 1994 by Lookout! Records co-owners Christopher Appelgren ( The Pattern, Bumblescrump, The Lefties), Molly Neuman (Bratmobile, The Frumpies, Love or Perish), along with guitarist Carlos Cañedo (Rice, Love or Perish, Beehive & The Baracudas), and bass player Rop Vasquez (Rice, Semi-Automatic, The Lefties). The PeeChees released three albums on the Kill Rock Stars label, and singles on Kill Rock Stars, Lookout! Records, and Subpop, and were on many compilations during the mid-1990s. They toured the United States and Europe and performed with label mates Bikini Kill, Unwound, and Sleater-Kinney and performed and collaborated with Rocket From The Crypt and Rancid. Larry Livermore
Lawrence Hayes (born October 28, 1947), better known by his stage name Larry Livermore, is an American singer, musician, record producer, and author, best known as the co-founder of Lookout Records. Biography In 1977, Hayes began to attend punk rock shows in the San Francisco bay area. He soon adopted the "punk rock name" Larry Livermore, an allusion to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a nuclear research and development facility in Livermore, California, run by the University of California. In 1984, he founded ''Lookout'' magazine, based in Laytonville, California, and continued to publish it until 1995. In 1985, he formed the Lookouts, a punk-rock band whose 12-year-old drummer, Tre Cool, later went on to play for Green Day. The Pattern was an American punk garage rock band, based in Oakland, California, United States, from 2000 to 2004. History The Pattern formed in the summer of 2000, led by vocalist Christopher Appelgren (former lead singer of the PeeChees and owner of Lookout Records), guitarists Jason Rosenberg (formerly of Saint James Infirmary), Andy Asp (former singer and guitar player in Nuisance), bassist Carson Bell (formerly of The Cuts), and drummer Jim Anderson (formerly of Black Fork). Ted Leo and the Pharmacists (sometimes written Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Ted Leo + Pharmacists, or TL/Rx) are an American rock band formed in 1999 in Washington, D.C.
