Chris Anderson (politician)
Chris Anderson is an American politician and Democratic Party political activist. He was a member of the Chattanooga, Tennessee City Council for District 7, but was defeated in a run-off election on April 11, 2017. He was the first openly LGBT individual to be elected to Chattanooga's City Council. He also serves as a member of the Tennessee Democratic Party State Executive Committee. Political career Anderson started his political career as a Democratic Party activist. He was elected in 2003 as the President of the Tennessee Young Democrats which also gave him a seat on the Tennessee Democratic Party State Executive Committee. He was later elected in 2007 as the Executive Vice President of the Young Democrats of America nationally when that organization would be led for the first time by an openly gay President and Executive Vice President. Chattanooga ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The Tennessee Democratic Party (TNDP) is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in Tennessee. The party was founded in 1826 and is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The Tennessee Democratic Party began alongside President Andrew Jackson's populist philosophy of Jacksonian democracy in the mid-1820s. From the late 19th-century until the 1960s, the party largely supported the use of the Jim Crow system. Young Democrats Of America
The Young Democrats of America (YDA) is the youth wing of the Democratic Party of the United States. YDA operates as a separate organization from the Democratic National Committee; following the passage of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, it became an independent 527 organization. The group's membership consists of Democrats from ages 14 to 35, and its political activities include an emphasis on increasing the voter turnout of young people. The Tea Party movement was an American fiscally conservative political movement within the Republican Party that began in 2009.
