Chon Noriega
Chon A. Noriega is an American art historian, media scholar, and curator. Noriega is professor of cinema and media studies at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He was also the director of the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC) from 2002 to 2021. Noriega is an adjunct curator at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), where he has worked as an curator since the 1990s. He has curated major exhibitions at Cornell University and LACMA. Early life Noriega was born in Miami, Florida in 1961. His father was a beat reporter for the Associated Press from La Luz, New Mexico. His mother was from Kentucky. They moved to Chicago in 1973, where his father ran a PR agency and ran for mayor in the early 1990s. He graduated with a bachelor's in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago. La Luz, New Mexico
La Luz is a census-designated place (CDP) in Otero County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 1,615 at the 2000 census. It is located immediately north of Alamogordo and lies in the eastern edge of the Tularosa Basin and on the western flank of the Sacramento Mountains. Until 1848, La Luz was a part of Mexico. KCRW (89.9 MHz FM) is a National Public Radio member station broadcasting from the campus of Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California, where the station is licensed. KCRW airs original news and music programming in addition to programming from NPR and other affiliates. The Vincent Price Art Museum (VPAM) is an art museum located at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California, US. The museum is named after American actor Vincent Price who donated portions of his personal art collection to the college in 1957. Laura Aguilar
Laura Aguilar (October 26, 1959 – April 25, 2018) was an American photographer. She was born with auditory dyslexia and attributed her start in photography to her brother, who showed her how to develop in dark rooms. She was mostly self-taught, although she took some photography courses at East Los Angeles College, where her second solo exhibition, ''Laura Aguilar: Show and Tell'', was held. She was well-known for her portraits, mostly of herself, and also focused upon people in marginalized communities, including LGBT and Latino subjects, self-love, and social stigma of obesity.
