''Chola'' (English: ''Shadow of Water'') is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language psychological drama film directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and produced by Joju George, and co-produced by Shaji Mathew and Aruna Mathew. The film stars Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan and Akhil Viswanath. Plot An adolescent school girl and her teenage lover meet across at the village by dawn to set out for a trip to the town. Infuriated by the presence of a stranger along with the boy, she expresses her hesitance. However, he comforts and convinces her that the stranger will leave them at the bus stop and the trio begins their journey. Passing through the hilly peripheral suburbs of Kerala, they reach out at the heart of the city. Tall buildings to shopping precinct, the girl is astounded and excited. Resuming their journey back in the evening, things take a wild turn, later unfolding inevitable intriguing incidents. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan
Sanal Kumar Sasidharan (born 8 April 1977) is an Indian poet, lawyer, and filmmaker. Personal life Sanal Kumar Sasidharan was born in Perumkadavila village, Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala on 8 April 1977. He graduated in Zoology from VTM NSS College Dhanuvachapuram, Trivandrum and law, then started his job as a lawyer. He was associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, and was the unit secretary of the ABVP during his days at the Law College. He later left ABVP over political differences, and became a critic of the BJP-controlled Central government. In 2001, he formed a film society, Kazhcha Chalachithra Vedi with his colleagues, for making independent movies through crowd funding. Joju George
Joseph George, better known as Joju George (born 22 October 1977) is an Indian actor, playback singer and producer who works mainly in Malayalam cinema. He has acted in Malayalam films and worked on Tamil projects as well. In 2015, he won the Kerala State Film Award – Special Mention for his supporting roles in ''Oru Second Class Yathra'' and ''Lukka Chuppi''. His film ''Joseph'' got special mention in 66th National Film Awards 2019. He is the recipient of more than 20 awards, awarded to him for either his acting or production. Nimisha Sajayan (born 4 January 1997) is an Indian actress in the Malayalam film industry. Nimisha made her acting debut with the film '' Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum'' directed by Dileesh Pothan. She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in 2018 for her performance in Oru Kuprasidha Payyan and Chola. She Has Won One Filmfare Award South, One Kerala State Film Awards and Three SIIMA Awards.
