Choi Hi-yong
Hi-Yong Choi (born 1965-09-13 in Korea) is a former professional boxer. He is a former WBA light-flyweight champion. Professional career Choi turned professional in 1987 and captured the WBA light flyweight title in 1991 in only his 10th pro bout in with a decision win over Bong-Jun Kim. He defended the belt 4 times before losing it to Hideyuki Ohashi in 1992. Carlos Murillo is an American playwright, director, and professor of Puerto Rican and Colombian descent. Based in Chicago, Murillo is a professor and head of the Playwriting program at the Theatre School at DePaul University. He is best known for his play ''Dark Play or Stories for Boys''. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Hideyuki Ohashi
is a Japanese former professional boxer and two-time minimumweight world champion. Professional career Ohashi dropped out of college to begin a professional boxing career, and made his debut in February, 1985, with the Yonekura Boxing Gym. He won the vacant Japanese Light flyweight title in his 6th professional fight, and in December 1986, he challenged Jung-Koo Chang for the WBC Light flyweight title, but lost by TKO in the 5th round. Ohashi reclaimed the Japanese Light flyweight title in January 1988, and challenged Chang for the second time in June of the same year, only to lose again by 8th-round TKO. This was Chang's 15th consecutive defense of the WBC title, and Ohashi was knocked down a total of 7 times in 8 rounds before the referee stopped the contest.
