Choghadiya
Choghadiya () refers to an auspicious period of twenty-four minutes in Indian astrology. Etymology ''Ghadi'' (now used for a clock in Hindi) is an ancient measure for calculations of time in India roughly equivalent to 24 minutes. ''Cho-ghadiya'' means four ''ghadi'' which totals to 96 minutes. Most of choghadiya are of a figure around 96 minutes. About it is advisable to perform necessary prayers, on a particular time phase of the day to get maximum benefits of health, wealth and prosperity. One can get the appropriate time of Muhurta (Auspicious Occasion) from the Panchang. Types of Choghadiya There are totally seven types of Choghdiya. * Amrit, Shubh and Labh are considered the most auspicious Choghadiyas. (Time Period) * Chal is considered as good Choghadiya . Muhurta
Muhūrta ( sa, मुहूर्त, translit=muhūrtaṃ) is a Hindu unit of measurement for time along with nimiṣa, kāṣṭhā, and kalā in the Hindu calendar. In the Brāhmaṇas, ''muhūrta'' denotes a division of time: 1/30 of a day, or a period of 48 minutes. The sense "moment" is also common in the '' Brāhmanạs''. In the ''Rigveda'' we only find the sense "moment". Further each muhūrta is further divided into 30 Kalā, i.e. Indian minutes (making 1 Kalā = 1.6 western minutes or 96 Western seconds). Each kalā is further divided into 30 Kāṣṭhā i.e. Indian seconds (making 1 Kāṣṭhā ≈ 3.2 Western seconds). Etymology The "Sandhi Vidchhed" for the term is thus: It breaks muhūrt into two parts, "muhu" (moment/immediate) and "ṛta" (order). The Ṛg Ved III.33.5 has accordingly mentions this descriptive term. Hindu Astrology
Jyotisha or Jyotishya (from Sanskrit ', from ' “light, heavenly body" and ''ish'' - from Isvara or God) is the traditional Hindu system of astrology, also known as Hindu astrology, Indian astrology and more recently Vedic astrology.
