Choate, British Columbia
Choate ( ) is a locality in the lower Fraser Canyon of British Columbia, Canada, approximately midway between the unincorporated town of Yale (N) and the district municipality of Hope. A post office operated at Choate from 1923 to 1939. The designation of "flagstop" was changed to "locality" in 1984. Stullawheets Indian Reserve No. 8 of the Yale First Nation is located at Choate, around its Canadian Pacific Railway "station" (flagstop). Stulkawhits Creek, the namesake of the reserve, is at , flowing east out of the southern Lillooet Ranges. Name origin Choate was named for CPR bridge construction foreman James Zacchaeus Choate, 1863–1930, who began work with the railway in 1888. He was born in Wentworth County, Ontario and educated in that county and in Haldiman County. He had previously worked for the Grand Trunk Pacific from 1880. Anna is the largest community and retail trade center in Union County, Illinois, United States. Located in Southern Illinois, its population was 4,442 at the 2010 United States Census, a decline from 5,135 in 2000. Choate Rosemary Hall (often known as Choate; ) is a private, co-educational, college-preparatory boarding school in Wallingford, Connecticut, United States. Choate is currently ranked as the second best boarding school and third best private high school in America. Founded in 1890, it took its present name and began a co-educational system with the 1971 merger of The Choate School for boys and Rosemary Hall for girls. Choate House (Pleasantville, New York)
Choate House was built in 1867 by shoe manufacturer Samuel Baker in what is now Pleasantville, New York. It later became the residence of Dr. George C. S. Choate. Choate added a wing as a private sanitarium to accommodate patients being treated for mental and nervous disorders. Horace Greeley was being treated there at the time of his death on November 29, 1872. Choate died in 1896; the sanitarium closed ten years later. His widow, wanting to turn the house over to her newly married son as a wedding gift, decided to live in the wing after moving it down the hill to its present location near Bedford Road. The job of detaching the wing and moving it began on New Year’s Day 1909 and was completed in summer. Teams of horses pulled the building over logs to its new location. Choate, Wisconsin
Langlade is a town in Langlade County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 473 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated communities of Choate, Freeman, Lily, and Pickerel are located within the town. Geography Langlade is in eastern Langlade County and is bordered to the north by Forest County. The community of Lily is close to the geographic center of the town, on the east side of the Wolf River, where it is joined from the northeast by the Lily River. State highways 52 and 55 cross in Lily, WI-52 leading northeast to Wabeno and southwest to Antigo, the Langlade county seat, while WI-55 leads north to Crandon and southeast to Shawano.
