Chittagong Polytechnic Institute ( bn, চট্টগ্রাম পলিটেকনিক ইনস্টিটিউট), is a government technical institution located in the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh. It provides theoretical and practical education of basic engineering and technology. Chittagong Polytechnic Institute was established in 1962. Kushtia Polytechnic Institute (KPI) ( bn, কুষ্টিয়া পলিটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউট) is a government technical institute in Kushtia, Bangladesh. It is the largest polytechnic institute in Bangladesh. A study of job satisfaction among teachers at KPI and seven other government polytechnics found that overall it was low. Out of economic necessity, about a tenth of male teachers and a third of female teachers work a part-time job on the side. Shaheed Minar, Dhaka
The Shaheed Minar ( bn, শহীদ মিনার ''Shohid Minar'' lit. "Martyr Monument") is a national monument in Dhaka, Bangladesh, established to commemorate those killed during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations of 1952 in then East Pakistan. On 21 and 22 February 1952, students from Dhaka University and Dhaka Medical College and political activists were killed when the Pakistani police force opened fire on Bengali protesters who were demanding official status for their native tongue, Bengali. The massacre occurred near Dhaka Medical College and Ramna Park in Dhaka. A makeshift monument was erected on 23 February by students of Dhaka medical college and other educational institutions, but soon demolished on 26 February by the Pakistani police force. The National Martyrs' Memorial ( bn, জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ ''Jatiyo Sriti Soudho'') is the national monument of Bangladesh, set up in the memory of those who died in the Bangladesh War of Independence of 1971, which brought independence and separated Bangladesh from Pakistan. Pritilata
Pritilata Waddedar (5 May 1911 – 24 September 1932) was an Indian revolutionary nationalist from the Indian subcontinent who was influential in the Indian independence movement. After completing her education in Chittagong and Dhaka, she attended Bethune College in Kolkata. She graduated in philosophy with distinction and became a school teacher. She is praised as "Bengal's first woman martyr". Pritilata joined a revolutionary group headed by Surya Sen. She is known for leading fifteen revolutionaries in the 1932 armed attack on the Pahartali European Club, during which one person was killed and eleven injured. The revolutionaries torched the club and were later caught by the colonial police. To escape arrest, Pritilata committed suicide by cyanide. Kazi Nazrul Islam ( bn, কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম, ; 24 May 1899 – 29 August 1976) was a Bengali poet, Bengali literature, writer, Bangladeshi music, musician, and is the national poet of Bangladesh. Nazrul is regarded as one of the greatest poets in Bengali literature.
