Chip (association Football)
A chip, also known as a lob, is a shot in which the ball is kicked from underneath with accuracy but with less than maximum force, to launch it high into the air in order either to pass it over the heads of opponents or to score a goal over the goalkeeper. Chip shots usually have backspin, otherwise they are usually considered a lob. In general, the lob requires that the player strike the ball with the front of their foot, using the toe to lift the ball up in the air. Mostly used to score, it focuses on getting the ball to a certain amount of vertical height, where the goalkeeper can't reach it and then have it come back down again into the goal. It takes a certain amount of technique and precision to do and players such as Carlos Vela, Raúl González, Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao, Ronaldinho, Roberto Baggio, Romário, Francesco Totti, Alessandro Del Piero and Lionel Messi have made it trademark moves. Scoring In Association Football
In games of association football, teams compete to score the most goals during the match. A goal is scored when the ball passes completely over a goal line at either end of the field of play between two centrally positioned upright goal posts 24 feet (7.32 m) apart and underneath a horizontal crossbar at a height of 8 feet (2.44 m) — this frame is itself referred to as a goal. Each team aims to score at one end of the pitch, while preventing their opponents from scoring at the other side. Nets are usually attached to the goal frame to catch goalscoring balls, but the ball is not required to touch the net.
