Chintamani (1956 Film)
''Chintamani'' is a 1956 Indian Telugu-language film, produced and directed by P. S. Ramakrishna Rao. It stars P. Bhanumathi, N. T. Rama Rao, and Jamuna, with music composed by Addepalli Rama Rao and T. V. Raju. The film is based on the play of the same name, written by Kallakuri Narayana Rao. Plot The film begins with a prostitute, Chintamani in spite who is an advent devotee of Lord Krishna. Bhavani Shankarudu a Brahmin, lustful towards Chintamani, gives away all his wealth. Even then Chintamani’s shrew mother Srihari is not satisfied and asks Chintamani to lure Subbi Shetty a merchant, and halfheartedly Chintamani snatches him too. Bellvamangaludu son of Vasudeva Murthy a gold merchant lives delightfully with his dedicated wife Radha. Bhavani Shankarudu makes his introduction to Chintamani and they are infatuated. Kallakuri Narayana Rao
Kallakuri Narayana Rao (28 April 1871 – 27 June 1927) was social reformer, play writer, Cinematographer and Indian nationalist. His honorific name is "Mahakavi". His famous plays were Varavikrayam, Chintamani, Madhuseva, Chitrabhyudayam and Padmavyuham(1919). His play ''chintamani'' mainly depicted how Chintamani though born in a family of professional harlots, with her conscious devotion to Lord Krishna attained liberation. It also brought out the hazards of the practice of harlotry. His play "Padmavyuham"(Army configuration of the Lotus) used historical and mythological frameworks as allegories for contemporary conditions under British domination. Bhanumathi Ramakrishna
P. Bhanumathi Ramakrishna (7 September 1925 – 24 December 2005) was an Indian actress, singer, film producer, director, music composer, and novelist. She is regarded as the first female super star of Telugu cinema. She is also considered the first female director of Telugu cinema with her debut directorial '' Chandirani'' (1953). Bhanumathi appeared in over 100 films predominantly in Telugu and Tamil languages. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2001 for her contribution to the Indian cinema. She was honored among "women in cinema" at the 30th International Film Festival of India. Madhavapeddi Satyam
Madhavapeddi Satyam (11 March 1922 – 18 December 2000) was an Indian playback singer and actor who predominantly worked in Telugu cinema. He entered films as a singer-actor in Y. V. Rao's Tamil-Hindi bilingual movie ''Ramadas'' in the year 1946, playing the role of Kabir. However, he became more popular as a playback singer due to his booming voice. His voice suited artists like S. V. Ranga Rao, Relangi and Ramana Reddy. He also sang for others like Akkineni Nageswara Rao, N.T. Rama Rao, Jaggayya and Padmanabham. Ghantasala Venkateswararao (4 December 1922 – 11 February 1974), known mononymously by his surname as Ghantasala, was an Indian playback singer and film composer known for his works predominantly in Telugu and Kannada cinema and also in Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu and Hindi language films. He is considered as one of the greatest singers of Telugu cinema. In 1970, he received the Padma Shri award, India's fourth highest civilian award for his contribution to Indian cinema. Rukmini
Rukmini ( sa, रुक्मिणी, , ) is a Hindu goddess and the first queen and chief wife of Krishna. In Vaishnava tradition, she is described as Krishna's principal queen in Dvaraka, as well as the chief of his wives. She is an incarnation of the goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi.
