Chinese Catholic Bishops Conference
The Chinese Regional Bishops' Conference (CRBC; ), is the episcopal conference of Taiwan and is the highest organ of the Roman Catholic Church in Greater China. Catholics in the independent jurisdictions of Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia are represented in the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences, not the Chinese Regional Bishops' Conference. History When Archbishop Paul Yü of Nanking attended the Second Vatican Council in 1965, Pope John XXIII proposed the development of the Chinese Catholic Church on Taiwan due to the situation of the Church on Mainland China. Part of this development would be to re-establish Catholic schools such as the Catholic University in Peking on Taiwan as well as creating a Chinese episcopal conference. Catholic Patriotic Association
The Catholic Patriotic Association (), abbreviated CPA, is a state-sanctioned organization of Catholicism in the People's Republic of China. It was established in 1957 after a group of Chinese Catholics met in Beijing with officials from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Religious Affairs Bureau. It is the main organizational body of Catholics in China officially recognized by the Chinese government. It is not recognized by the Vatican. The organization is overseen by the CCP's United Front Work Department (UFWD) following the State Administration for Religious Affairs' absorption into the UFWD in 2018. The CPA does not oversee Catholics in Macau and Hong Kong. Martin Su Yao-wen (; born 9 November 1959) is the current serving Roman Catholic bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Taichung, Taiwan. Early life Martin was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 9 November 1959. He studied at Holy Spirit minor seminary in Taichung, Taipei major seminary and completed his philosophy and theology at Fu Jen University. Priesthood On 8 June 1989, Martin was ordained a priest for the Roman Catholic diocese of Taichung, Taiwan. He also studied at St. Louis University, San Francisco, U.S.A., for a diploma in Religious Education. He acquired Licentiate in Religious Education from Fordham University, New York. Roman Catholic Archdiocese Of Taipei
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Taipei ( la, Archidioecesis Taipehensis) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Taiwan. Pope Pius XII erected it as the Apostolic Prefecture of Taipei on 30 December 1949. On 7 August 1952, it was elevated to an archdiocese, with the suffragan sees of Chiayi, Hsinchu, Hualien, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Tainan. The archdiocese's cathedral is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. As the only metropolitan in Taiwan, it is the principal episcopal see of that country. Thomas Chung An-zu is the current serving archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Taipei, Taiwan and Apostolic Administrator of Kinmen or Quemoy Islands and Matzu. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kaohsiung (Lat: ''Dioecesis Kaohsiungensis'') is a diocese of the Latin Church of the Roman Catholic Church in Taiwan. The diocese has the distinction of being the first Catholic ecclesiastical territory erected on the island of Taiwan. Created as the Apostolic Prefecture of the Island of Formosa in 1913, the name was changed to the Apostolic Prefecture of Kaohsiung in 1949.
