Chinese Basketball Association
The Chinese Basketball Association (), often abbreviated as the CBA, is the first-tier professional men's basketball league in China. The league is commonly known by fans as the CBA, and this acronym is even used in Chinese on a regular basis. The CBA should not be confused with the National Basketball League (NBL), which is a professional minor league. There is also a Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA). A few Chinese players who competed in the CBA in the early stages of their careers — including Wang Zhizhi, Mengke Bateer, Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian, Sun Yue, and Zhou Qi — have also played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Others such as Xue Yuyang and Wang Zhelin were chosen in the draft, but have not played in the NBA. Only a limited number of foreign players are allowed on each CBA team. Foshan Long-Lions
The Guangzhou Loong Lions () are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. They play in the Southern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). History The team was founded in November 2000 as Shaanxi Gaitianli Kylins by the Xi'an Dongsheng Group. In August 2001, they won the "B" league championship, and were promoted to the Chinese Basketball Association, CBA. In the 2004–05 season, the Shaanxi Kylins finished in fifth place in the North Division, and were out of the playoffs. In 2005–06, they finished sixth, and were once again out of the playoffs. The team was scheduled to participate in the 2008 season of the International Basketball League (IBL). They were replaced by the Shanxi Loongs, Shanxi Brave Dragons. In 2010, the Shaanxi Kylins moved from Xi'an to Foshan, and renamed themselves the Foshan Dralions. Leon Rodgers (born June 19, 1980) is an American-born Venezuelan retired basketball player. Standing at , he played as small forward. Over his career, Rodgers played in the Netherlands, China, France, Germany, Puerto Rico, Philippines and Colombia. He was nicknamed "La Moto" during his time in Venezuela. Fujian Sturgeons
Fujian SBS Xunxing Sturgeons (Simplified Chinese: 福建SBS浔兴鲟) or Fujian Xunxing or Fujian SBS are a Chinese professional men's basketball team in the Chinese Basketball Association, based in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, Fujian. The "SBS" reflects corporate sponsorship from the Jinjiang-based Fujian SBS Zipper Science and Technology Corporation. Unlike all the other teams in the CBA, the team originally had no English–friendly animal–type nickname. They have since begun using the name Sturgeons. The Fujian Sturgeons made their debut in the 2004–2005 season, and finished in seventh and last place in the South Division, out of the playoffs.
