Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong () is a non-profit association of Cantonese opera groups and artists in Hong Kong, established in the 1880s. In 1953, it registered as an organization in Hong Kong. It is a professional organisation for Cantonese opera performers. It presented the Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase in Hong Kong from 2012 to 2015. Cantonese Opera
Cantonese opera is one of the major categories in Chinese opera, originating in southern China's Guangdong Province. It is popular in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hong Kong, Macau and among Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. Like all versions of Chinese opera, it is a traditional Chinese art form, involving music, singing, martial arts, acrobatics, and acting. Hong Kong was a colony and later a dependent territory of the British Empire from 1841 to 1997, apart from a period of occupation under the Japanese Empire from 1941 to 1945 during the Pacific War. Sun Ma Sze Tsang
Tang Wing-Cheung (; 20 June 1916 – 20 April 1997), better known by his stage name Sun Ma Sze Tsang (), was a Cantonese opera singer and actor in Hong Kong. Career Born in Shunde, Guangdong, China, his parents divorced when he was eight. His father, Tang Kei, was a gambling and Cantonese opera addict. He moved to Hong Kong with his mother, Lo Lin, after she had divorced his father. His mother worked as a maid and was often bullied. Tang later left home to learn Cantonese opera. Tang impressed the Cantonese opera industry by his stunning performance that resembled Ma Sze-Tsang, a famous Cantonese opera singer. His teacher gave him the stagename Sun Ma Sze Tsang, meaning 'New Ma Sze-Tsang'. Sun Ma Sze Tsang became very famous for his singing technique. Kwan Tak Hing
Kwan Tak-hing, MBE (27 June 1905 – 28 June 1996) was a Hong Kong martial artist and actor best known for his portrayal of martial artist folk hero Wong Fei-hung in at least 77 films, between the 1940s and the 1980s. No one else in cinema history has portrayed the same person as many times. In total he made over 130 films. He was elected in 1955 as the chairman of the Chinese Artist Association of Hong Kong. He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1984. History Kwan was born in Guangzhou, China in 1905. He was the second child in the family. Mak Bing-wing (; 1915–1984) was a Chinese actor active in Cantonese opera. Born in 1915 in Guangdong, he attended Wah Yan College, Hong Kong and began his acting career in the 1930s. He left Hong Kong in 1941 for a tour of the United States, returning in 1947. after the Pacific War had ended. While in the United States, Mak appeared in many Grandview Film Company productions. His third marriage, to Yu So-chow in 1966, produced three children. Mak was also close to actress Wong-Nui Fung, whom he met while both were active in the . Leung Sing-Bor
Leung Sing Poh MBE (1908 – 12 February 1981) was an actor, host and former Cantonese opera performer from Hong Kong. Leung was a pioneer actor of TVB, and was also the former chairman of Chinese Artist Association of Hong Kong from 1965 to 1970. He was nicknamed "Por Suk" or "Uncle Por", and was credited with over 440 films. He had a star at Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong. Early life Leung was born as Leung Guang Choy in Singapore in 1908.
