Chinchilla (band)
Chinchilla is a heavy metal band from Germany. The group was founded by guitarist Udo Gerstenmeyer in 1988, and released an EP entitled ''No Mercy'' in 1990.Biography Allmusic.com This incarnation of the band broke up just after the release of the album, but Gerstenmeyer reformed the band in 1994 and recorded a second EP. A full-length did not appear until 1998, after which the group signed to Metal Blade Records, for whom they would release several albums. Several line-up changes have occurred over the life of the band. Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist).
