''Chinatown Nights'' is a 1938 British science fiction film directed by Toni Frenguelli and starring Harry Agar Lyons (his last film), Anne Grey and Robert Hobbs. Nell Emerald
Ellen Maud O'Shea (29 October 1882 – 21 June 1969), known professionally as Nell Emerald, was an English-born actress and film producer. Early life and education Emerald was born in London, England to Irish parents in 1882. All five of the O'Shea sisters were on the music hall stage from an early age, with their mother as their manager. Career After her marriage in 1910, she moved from the music hall to the film studio, first as an actress in silent films, and by 1913 as a co-director of the Brightonia Film Company, based in Brighton, England. Nell Emerald appeared in Brightonia films as well as working behind the camera as producer. Nell Emerald acted in silent films through the 1910s and 1920s, including a 1921 adaptation of Thomas Hardy's ''The Mayor of Casterbridge''; Hardy himself visited the set of this production, though he never saw the finished work. Harry Agar Lyons
Harry Agar Lyons (1 April 1878 – 1944) was an Irish-born British actor. He was born in Cork, Ireland in 1878 and died in Wandsworth, London, England in 1944 at age 72. Lyons is best known for playing Fu Manchu in a series of fifteen silent films collectively called ''The Mystery of Dr. Fu Manchu'', all filmed in 1923, followed by a 1924 series of eight additional Fu Manchu films under the title ''The Further Mysteries of Dr. Fu Manchu''. Lyons starred in the title role of all 23 movies (which ran about 20 –25 minutes each in length), all of which featured Fu's ongoing battle with his two British nemeses, Sir Nayland Smith (played by Fred Paul) and his assistant Dr. Petrie. Anne Grey
Anne Grey (born Aileen Stephen Ewing; 6 March 1907 – 3 April 1987) was an English actress, who appeared in 44 films between 1928 and 1939, including some Hollywood films during the late 1930s. She was educated at Lausanne and King's College London. She had originally intended a literary career, and to become a journalist but went on stage instead. Her first film experience in 1925 was in a crowd scene in '' The Constant Nymph'' but she got second lead in her next picture just two months later. In 1934 she went to Hollywood. Arty Ash, real name Arthur Richard Dodge (14 April 1895 – 6 February 1954) was a British actor. He is well known for appearing with Leslie Sarony in ''Clonk!''
