China Sevens
The China Sevens, most recently hosted in Huizhou, is an international rugby sevens tournament contested by national teams. The inaugural event, held in Shanghai, was a leg of the IRB World Sevens Series in 2001. The tournament moved to Beijing for 2002. From 2009 to 2012 the tournament returned to Shanghai as an official event within the Asian Sevens Series. The event was hosted at the Chaoyang Stadium in Beijing for 2014, then Qingdao in 2015 and Huizhou in 2019. Huizhou ( zh, c= ) is a city in central-east Guangdong Province, China, forty-three miles north of Hong Kong. Huizhou borders the provincial capital of Guangzhou to the west, Shenzhen and Dongguan to the southwest, Shaoguan to the north, Heyuan to the northeast, Shanwei to the east, and Daya Bay of the South China Sea to the south. The Jiangwan Stadium (), formerly Shanghai Stadium, is a multi-purpose athletics stadium in Shanghai. History Jiangwan Stadium was built in 1934 as part of the Greater Shanghai Plan. It hosted its first National Games of China in 1935. During World War II the stadium was damaged by the Japanese during the Battle of Shanghai. The Kuomintang government repaired the stadium for the Seventh National Games in 1948. This would be the last National Games before the People's Republic of China was established in 1949. The Qingdao Tiantai Stadium (), former name Qingdao First Stadium (), is a multi-use stadium in Qingdao, Shandong, China.
