Chin Lee
Chin Lee () is a former Canadian city councillor in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from Scarborough for Ward 41 Scarborough-Rouge River until his resignation in May 2018. Lee was elected to Toronto City Council in the November 2006 civic elections for Ward 41 - Scarborough—Rouge River. He replaced former councillor and MPP Bas Balkissoon. Lee is also a member of the Scarborough Community Council. Lee is one of Toronto City Council's three appointees to the seven-member Toronto Police Services Board where he presently serves as vice-chair. He is one of four councillors of Asian heritage elected to city council in Toronto in 2014, the other three being Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong, Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam and Korean born, Councillor Raymond Cho. The current term began on November 15, 2022. Structure The current decision-making framework and committee structure at the City of Toronto was established by the '' City of Toronto Act, 2006'' and came into force January 1, 2007. Raymond Cho (politician)
Raymond Sung Joon Cho (; born November 18, 1936) is a Canadian politician who has served as the Ontario minister of seniors and accessibility since June 29, 2018. A member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party, Cho has sat as a member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) since 2016. He currently represents Scarborough North, and is the Legislative Assembly's oldest sitting MPP. Cho's over 30-year long political career began in 1991 when he was first elected to the Metro Toronto Council. Following amalgamation in 1998, Cho ran for Toronto City Council, where he re-elected eight times until resigning in 2016 following a successful run for Scarborough—Rouge River in a provincial by-election. 1994 Toronto Municipal Election
The 1994 Toronto municipal election was held in November 1994 to elect councillors in Metropolitan Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and mayors, councillors and school trustees in Toronto, York, East York, North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke. The election was noted as a defeat for incumbents. Three sitting mayors were defeated: June Rowlands in Toronto, Fergy Brown, in York, and Bruce Sinclair of Etobicoke. On Metro Toronto Council it was a victory for the left as the New Democratic Party (NDP) faction grew from six to nine members. Metro Council Ten of Metro Council's 28 members ran unopposed in the election, and they were therefore acclaimed. No incumbents were defeated. The 2006 Toronto municipal election took place on 13 November 2006 to elect a mayor and 44 city councillors in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In addition, school trustees were elected to the Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest and Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud. The election was held in conjunction with those held in other municipalities in the province of Ontario (see 2006 Ontario municipal elections). In the mayoral race, incumbent mayor David Miller was re-elected with 57% of the popular vote. There were 38 candidates running for Mayor of Toronto and 238 candidates running for 44 city councillor positions. Scarborough North is a provincial riding in Ontario, Canada. It was originally created prior to the 1963 provincial election and eliminated in 1996, when most of its territory was incorporated into the ridings of Scarborough—Agincourt and Scarborough—Rouge River. For the 2018 provincial election, it was re-created from Scarborough—Agincourt and Scarborough—Rouge River. Scarborough North riding was originally created from part of the former riding of York—Scarborough. It is in the former borough of Scarborough.
