The Chile national under-20 rugby union team participates in the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy. Chile has finished among the top three teams several times in the IRB JWRT, and has twice hosted the event. Italy National Under-20 Rugby Union Team
Italy's national under-20 rugby union team has competed in both the IRB Junior World Championship and IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy. They were one of four teams relegated in 2009 to the Junior World Trophy after finishing at the bottom of the tournament. They were again promoted to the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship after winning the 2010 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy. IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy
The World Rugby Under 20 Trophy (known as the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy until 2014) is an international rugby union competition. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, World Rugby, and is contested by 8 men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. This event replaced the World Rugby's former age-grade world championships, the Under-19 and Under-21 World Championships. The inaugural tournament was held in June 2008, hosted by Chile and with 8 teams participating. The World Rugby Under 20 Trophy is the second level of the World Rugby tournament structure for under-20 national sides. Rugby union in Chile is a fairly popular sport. The Chilean Rugby Federation was founded on 4 May 1953 and governs the sport in Chile. Their statutes and regulations were officialized at 16 December 1963. It is affiliated to the Olympic Committee of Chile, the Confederación Sudamericana de Rugby, FIRA and World Rugby. In July 2022 the men's national team defeated the USA to qualify for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, the first time the country has qualified for the competition.
