Regalbuto (Latin: Ameselum; Sicilian: ''Regarbutu'') is a ''comune'' in the province of Enna, Sicily, southern Italy. There is an annual cattle fair held in the month of August. History Regalbuto may be the ancient town of Amaselos, which was named by the Greek and Sicilian historian Diodorus Siculus in his ''Bibliotheca historica'' (Historical Library) writings. The name Regalbuto derives from the Arab term ''Rahal Abbud'', "Abbud's farmhouse". Discoveries at the site include the old Saracen quarter. Around 1200, the inhabitants of the nearby town of Centuripe, who rebelled against the Swabian dynasty whom Regalbuto had been faithful to, destroyed Regalbuto. Years later, King Manfred had the town rebuilt at its present site. In 1860, a number of members of parliament met in Regalbuto with Garibaldi to discuss a truce during the Campaign of 1860. Enna ( it, Provincia di Enna; Sicilian: ''Pruvincia di Enna''; officially ''Libero consorzio comunale di Enna'') is a province in the autonomous island region of Sicily in Italy. Rosario Gagliardi
Rosario Gagliardi (1698–1762) was an Italian architect born in Syracuse. He was one of the leading architects working in the Sicilian Baroque. In spite of never leaving Sicily his work showed great understanding of the style, but was a progression from the style of baroque as deployed by Bernini. He worked mostly in the Sicilian Baroque beginning with the cathedral at Modica in 1702. When evaluating his work at San Giorgio in Modica, and the domed Basilica of San Giorgio in Ragusa (designed 1738, built 1744–66), it appears incredible that he was completely untravelled. As the Sicilian baroque style evolved so too did the accomplishment of his work. The Church of San Giorgio is thought to be the prototype for all the other churches in the region.
