Abakar Abdelkarim Daoud
Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud (born 1968) is a Chadian military officer. Biography He is a member of the Zaghawa people from the Wadi Fira (region), Wadi Fira region and is nicknamed Kirekeyno (“the one who does not flee”, in Zaghawa language, Zaghawa). He fought alongside former Chadian President Idriss Déby during the 1990 Chadian coup d'état, rebellion against the regime of Hissène Habré in 1990. He was appointed head of presidential security in 1991 before leading the presidential guard a year later. He was wounded in combat around Lake Chad in 1992 and treated in France for over a year. He was made Chief of the National Gendarmerie in 2008, Chief of Staff of the Army (CEMAT), Advisor to the Ministry of Defense and finally Chief of the General Staff (Chad), Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGA) until the death of President Déby. Idriss Déby
Idriss Déby Itno ' (18 June 1952 – 20 April 2021) was a Chadian politician and military officer who was the president of Chad from 1990 until his death in 2021. Déby was a member of the Bidayat clan of the Zaghawa ethnic group. A high-ranking commander of President Hissène Habré's military during the 1980s, Déby played important roles in the Toyota War which led to Chad's victory during the Libyan-Chadian conflict. He was later purged by Habré after being suspected of plotting a coup, and was forced into exile in Libya. He took power by leading a coup d'état against Habré in December 1990. Despite introducing a multi-party system in 1992 after several decades of one-party rule under his predecessors, throughout his presidency, his Patriotic Salvation Movement was the dominant party. Daoud Soumain (died February 2, 2008) was the Chadian Chief of Army Staff. While Deputy Chief of Staff he was given in 2003 command of the Chadian contingent sent in the Central African Republic (CAR), which had been sent to consolidate the CAR President François Bozizé's rule as he had just risen to power. Hassane Saleh Al Gadam Al Jinedi
The Hassane is a name for the traditionally dominant warrior tribes of the Sahrawi-Moorish areas of present-day Mauritania, southern Morocco and Western Sahara. Although lines were blurred by intermarriage and tribal re-affiliation, the Hassane were considered descendants of the Arab Maqil tribe Beni Hassan (hence the name). They held power over Sanhadja Berber-descended zawiya (religious) and znaga (servant) tribes, extracting from these the horma tax in exchange for armed protection. Occasionally, such as in the case of the important Reguibat tribe, Zawāyā Berber groups would rise to Hassane status by growing in power and prestige and taking up armed raiding; they would then often Arabize culturally to fit the prevailing image of Hassane tribes as original Arabs.
