Chief Of Naval Staff (Bangladesh)
The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) ( bn, নৌবাহিনী প্রধান, Nou Bahini Pradhan) is the commander and usually the highest-ranking officer of the Bangladesh Navy. The position is abbreviated as CNS in Bangladesh Navy, and currently held by an Admiral. The current CNS is Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal, who took office on 25 July 2020. Prior to 2016, from 2007 the appointment was held by a Vice Admiral (three-star naval officer) and from 1972 to 2007 CNS's rank was Rear Admiral. Admiral ( bn, এ্যাডমিরাল, Admiral) is a four-star commissioned naval flag officer rank in the Bangladesh Navy. It is the highest achieved rank in the Bangladesh Navy. Admiral ranks above the three-star rank of Vice Admiral. The rank is denoted as a full-fledged Admiral to extricate subordinate officers like Vice Admiral and Rear Admiral. The rank was established in 2016, when Admiral M. Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed
Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed (born c. 1960) was an admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and the former Chief of Naval Staff. He previously served as the Director of Coast Guard Operations and commander of Chittagong Naval Command (COMCHIT). He also served in Naval Headquarters as Director of Personnel Services and Secretary to the Chief of Naval Staff. Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed, (ND), NBP, BCGM, ndc, psc (born 1957) was Chief of Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy.
