Chichester East is an electoral ward of Chichester District, West Sussex, England and returns two members to sit on Chichester District Council. Ward Profile Chichester East ward is one of four wards within the city of Chichester, along with Chichester North, Chichester South and Chichester West. Since the formation of Chichester District Council in 1973, the ward has been a Liberal Democrat stronghold. In May 2015, the Conservative party candidates won all three seats for the first time. Population In 2011, the population of Chichester East was 8,480, representing 7.5% of the total population of the Chichester District. It is the largest ward by population in the Chichester District. The ward has a far higher proportion of ethnic minorities than average in the District. Approximately 7.8% of the population in the ward is an ethnic minority, compared to 3.1% in the District. Nigel Degge Wilmot Sitwell
Nigel Degge Wilmot Sitwell (23 August 1935 in Gosport, Hampshire – 2017) was an English conservationist, writer, editor and businessman specialising in wildlife and travel. He is noted for his travels in nearly 100 countries, including Antarctica, Tibet, East Africa and East Asia. In addition he edited and published the WWF magazine series ''Wildlife'' for 17 years. Career After finishing Sherborne School in 1953 Sitwell went to Canada where he worked as financial journalist for The Montreal Gazette from 1958 to 1961. In 1964, he joined the editorial board of the ailing WWF magazine ''Animals'' which was founded in 1963. Subsequently, he bought that magazine. From January 1967 it was published monthly. In May 1974, the title was changed into ''Wildlife'' to present a wider range of featured topics.

Safe Seat
A safe seat is an electoral district (constituency) in a legislative body (e.g. Congress, Parliament, City Council) which is regarded as fully secure, for either a certain political party, or the incumbent representative personally or a combination of both. In such seats, there is very little chance of a seat changing hands because of the political leanings of the electorate in the constituency concerned and/or the popularity of the incumbent member.
