The Chicago Majors was a basketball team based in Chicago, Illinois, that was a member of the American Basketball League from 1961 to 1963. The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is an amateur sports organization based in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. It has more than 700,000 members nationwide, including more than 100,000 volunteers. The AAU was founded on January 21, 1888, by James E. Ermer Robinson
Ermer Robinson was a native of San Diego. He graduated from high school in 1942. Robinson was a member of the Harlem Globetrotters. Robinson shot the game winning basket when the Globetrotters beat the Lakers. Robinson was Head Coach of the Oakland Oaks and the general manager for the Chicago Majors, both of the American Basketball League. He was a coach for Oakland in 1962.
