Chiara Corbelletto
Chiara Corbelletto (born 1956 in Biella, Italy) is an Italian-born New Zealand artist. Corbelletto's public sculptures in Auckland include ''Twins'' (2003) at the Grafton Campus of the University of Auckland, ''Numbers Are the Language of Nature'' (2005) at the Auckland Domain, and ''1001 Spheres'' (2023) at Monte Cecilia Park. Corbelletto has artworks in the collections of Te Tuhi and Te Papa. Biography Corbelletto was born in 1956 in Biella, Italy. She trained as an artist in Italy, studying at the University of Milan. She arrived in New Zealand in 1981, after which she spent the next six years working as an art restorer. Corbeletto moved her studio to the Corban Estate Arts Centre around the year 2004. In 2005, Corbelletto unveiled ''Numbers Are the Language of Nature'', a sculpture in the Auckland Domain commissioned as a part of Outdoor Sculpture 2001, to create a sculpture walk within the Domain. Biella
Biella (; pms, Biela; la, Bugella) is a city and ''comune'' in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, the capital of the province of the same name, with a population of 44,324 as of 31 December 2017. Rānui is a suburb of West Auckland, New Zealand, which is under the local governance of Auckland Council. The area is densely populated but close to the western fringe of the Auckland urban area. The word 'rānui' in Māori means 'midday'. Demographics Rānui covers and had an estimated population of as of with a population density of people per km2. Gow Langsford Gallery is a commercial art gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. The gallery was established in 1987 by John Gow and Gary Langsford. Gow Langsford represents and has represented many significant New Zealand and international artists, including Max Gimblett, Jacqueline Fahey, Paul Dibble and Dick Frizzell. Although Gow Langsford Gallery is often associated with John Leech Gallery, whose origins can be traced back to the mid-19th century, Gow Langsford was created as a separate venture and with a different purpose in mind. History Gary Langsford and John Gow and jointly founded the gallery in 1987 in a disused Richmond Road petrol station in Grey Lynn. The gallery opened with a group show that included Dick Frizzell, Judy Millar, Greer Twiss and Allen Maddox. Two months later, the stock market crashed and the gallery building's value was halved from what Gow and Langsford had paid for it. Te Atatū Peninsula
Te Atatū Peninsula (formerly Te Atatu North) is a waterfront suburb of West Auckland surrounded by the Waitematā Harbour. The area was home to brickworks and farmland until the Northwestern Motorway was constructed in the 1950s, after which Te Atatū developed a low and medium-cost suburb. The area south of the motorway became known as Te Atatū South. The Auckland Harbour Board intended to develop a port on the peninsula for much of the 20th century. After plans for this were abandoned, the land was redeveloped into Footrot Flats Fun Park, an amusement park which operated in the 1980s. During the late 2010s, large-scale housing intensification led to the population of Te Atatū greatly expanding.
