Temple Chevallier
Temple Chevallier FRAS (19 October 1794 in Badingham, Suffolk – 4 November 1873 in Harrow Weald) was a British clergyman, astronomer, and mathematician. Between 1847 and 1849, he made important observations regarding sunspots. Chevallier has been called "a remarkable Victorian polymath" (Kenworthy, 1994). Not only did he write many papers on astronomy and physics, he also published a translation of the Apostolic Fathers that went into a second edition, and translated the works of Clement of Alexandria, Polycarp and Ignatius of Antioch. Alain Chevallier
Alain Chevallier (6 November 1947 – 3 October 2016) was a French Grand Prix motorcycle designer and builder. During the 1970s and 1980s, Chevallier designed and built road racing motorcycles using Yamaha engines and campaigned them in the Grand Prix world championships. His brother Olivier Chevallier rode the bikes until he was killed while competing at the Grand Prix of Le Castellet in 1980. Despite his brother's death, Chevallier continued to build and race motorcycles. In 1982, Didier de Radiguès rode a Chevallier-designed bike to victory in the 350cc Yugoslavian Grand Prix and finished the season in second place in the F.I.M. 350cc world championship. His Chevallier teammate Eric Saul won the Austrian Grand Prix and finished the championship in fourth place. Olivier Chevallier
Olivier Pierre Albin Chevallier (6 February 1949 - 6 April 1980) was a French professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Born in Vendôme, Loir-et-Cher, Chevallier's best year was in 1977 when he finished in sixth place in the 350cc world championship. His only Grand Prix victory came at the 1976 350cc Yugoslavian Grand Prix at Opatija. He was killed while competing at the Grand Prix of Le Castellet in 1980. Claire Chevallier
Claire Chevallier (born in 1969) is a Franco-Belgian pianist who specializes in the fortepiano. Biography Chevallier studied piano at the Conservatoires of Nancy and Strasbourg (class of Hélène Boschi) then with Bruno Rigutto in Paris. She then continued her training at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with and Guy Van Waas. She received a First Prize for piano and chamber music. It was during a masterclass given by Jos van Immerseel that she was fascinated by the fortepiano and therefore interested, as musician and researcher, in the historical contexts of the instruments and their technical evolution. Since 2004 she has been teaching the fortepiano at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Since 2007, she has been a member of the Jury of the International Competition of fortepiano organized by the Festival Musica Antiqua of Bruges. Chevallier (crater)
Chevallier is a lunar impact crater that is located in the northeastern part of the Moon's near side, about a crater diameter east-southeast of the prominent crater Atlas. To the south-southeast of Chevallier is the flooded crater Shuckburgh. This formation is little more than a disintegrated crater rim protruding upward slightly from a lava-flooded surface. All that survives of this feature is a few arcing sections of low ridges in the surface. The most prominent section of rim is along the northeast where it has merged with a smaller double-crater formation which has also been flooded. The interior floor has been resurfaced by the flows of lava, which are joined to the nearby flooded terrain. In the eastern half of the floor is Chevallier B, a small, partly flooded crater. Just to the west of the rim of Chevallier is Atlas A, a sharp-rimmed, bowl-shaped crater. Jean-Jacques Chevallier, (February 15, 1900 – May 23, 1983), was a 20th-century French professor, jurist and historian and Academician. Professor at the Paris Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences, member of the Academy of Political and Moral Sciences (1964–83), he left numerous works, in particular a major classic on "The Great Political Works from Machiavelli to Our Day" (''Les grandes œuvres politiques: de Machiavel à nos jours''), recently reissued with an update by Yves Guchet. The Chevalliers of Aspall Hall are a family in Britain that have lived and farmed at Aspall Hall since 1702. Descendants of the family still exist, and are involved in the production of Aspall Cider. Possessors of Aspall Hall, male line #Temple Chevallier (1674-1722), bought the Aspall estate in 1702 from the Brooke family. Jean-Baptiste-Alphonse Chevallier
Jean-Baptiste-Alphonse Chevallier (19 July 1793 – 29 November 1879) was a French chemist who contributed to public health through techniques for the detection of adulteration of food and medicine. He also contributed to forensic medicine and toxicology. His major contribution was a two volume work ''Dictionnaire des altérations et falsifications des substances alimentaires, medicamenteuses et commerciales'' (1850-52) on adulteration and its detection. Chevallier was born in Langres and moved to Paris at the age of fourteen, working as an assistant for the pharmacist P. F. G. Boullay. He also worked in the laboratory of Louis Nicolas Vauquelin in the Museum of Natural History. In 1812 he was conscripted into military service and saw action in Germany where he was injured at the Battle of Leipzig (October 16–19, 1813). Gabriel Chevallier
Gabriel Chevallier (3 May 1895 – 6 April 1969) was a French novelist widely known as the author of the satire ''Clochemerle''. Biography Born in Lyon in 1895, Gabriel Chevallier was educated in various schools before entering Lyon École des Beaux-Arts in 1911. He was called up at the start of World War I and wounded a year later, but returned to the front where he served as an infantryman until the war's end. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre and Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur. Following the war, he undertook several jobs including art teacher, journalist and a commercial traveller before starting to write in 1925. His novel ''La Peur'' (Fear) published in 1930 drew upon his own experiences and formed a damning indictment of the war. It was not published in English until 2011 (Serpent's Tail, ). Aspall, Suffolk
Aspall is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 52, and estimated population of 60 in 2005. The village is about north of Ipswich, and south of Diss. The Domesday Book records the population of Aspall in 1086 to be 24 households made up of 5 freemen and 19 smallholders along with 60 pigs, 24 sheep, and 13 cattle. The lands that made up the village were held by Odo of Bayeux, Ranulf Peverel, Robert Malet. Aspall Cyder is brewed here by the Chevalliers of Aspall Hall.
