Chester Clippers Jr. Hockey Club
The South Shore Schooners are a junior ice hockey, Junior C ice hockey team based in Chester, Nova Scotia, Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada. This franchise was established in 2019 returning the city to the Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League. The previous franchise began in 2008 as the Chester Clippers before relocating to Sydney, where they played as the Northside Vics. The Vics only lasted one season before folding, however they did not participate in the 2013-14 season. The team played in the Nova Scotia Junior C Hockey League. History The team was founded in 2008 by Jehad Assaff and a group of volunteers from Chester, Nova Scotia, before being sold to a North Sydney group headed by Jordan Evasuk-MacDonald in July 2013. On September 13, 2008, the team showed that Chester could compete at the Junior C level by playing their first ever exhibition game and beat the Liverpool-based South Shore Wild by a score of 4–3. Chester is a village on the Chester Peninsula, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada. The nearby waters of Mahone Bay and its numerous islands are well known for yachting and have made the Chester Yacht Club into a cruising destination. Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championships
The Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championship are the Junior "C" ice hockey championships for the Maritime Junior "C" leagues and Hockey North's Team Nunavut of the Canadian Territory of Nunavut. History The championship was officially adopted by Hockey Canada during a summer meeting in 2002. The first ever Maritime-North Championship was won by the Chebucto Canadians of Nova Scotia in the Spring of 2003. Chebucto defeated the Dieppe/Memramcook Voyageurs of the New Brunswick Junior C Hockey League 4–3 in triple overtime to win the title. On April 14, 2012, the tenth anniversary of the tournament, Nunavut's Kivalliq Canucks defeated Prince Edward Island's Pownal Red Wings 3–1 to become the first Hockey North-based team in the tournament's history to make the final. The Eastern Junior A Hockey League (EJHL, EJAHL) was a Junior "A" ice hockey league from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Eastern Junior A Hockey League was in competition for the Manitoba Centennial Cup, the National Junior A Championship from 1975 until 1978. History In the mid-1970s, the Maritime Amateur Hockey Association allowed the Eastern Junior B Hockey League of Cape Breton Island to play at the Junior A level. The 1975 Champion Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates and Antigonish Bulldogs refused to jump to Junior A and elected to play in the Northumberland Junior B Hockey League.
