Cheshire Constabulary
Cheshire Constabulary is the territorial police force responsible for policing the English unitary authorities of Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Borough of Halton and Borough of Warrington. The force is responsible for policing an area of with a population of approximately 1 million. Chief Constable Mark Roberts was appointed in 2021. The deputy chief constable is Julie Cooke, appointed in April 2019. History A constabulary was first formed in the county under the Cheshire Constabulary Act 1829 (10 Geo. 4, c.97) which was amended by the Cheshire Constabulary Act 1852. The passage of the County and Borough Police Act in 1856 led to the dissolution of this force and the creation of a second constabulary. Many of the officers continued to serve in the new force and there were clauses in the Act which allowed their pension rights to continue. Police Community Support Officer
A police community support officer (PCSO; cy, swyddog cymorth cymunedol yr heddlu, SCCH), or as written in legislation community support officer (CSO; cy, swyddog cymorth cymunedol, SCC) is a uniformed member of police staff in England and Wales, a role created by Section 38(2) of the Police Reform Act 2002, which was given Royal Assent by Queen Elizabeth II on 24 July 2002. They are non-warranted but provided with a variety of police powers and the power of a constable in various instances by the forty-three territorial police forces in England and Wales and the British Transport Police (which is the only specialist police service to employ PCSOs). County And Borough Police Act 1856
The County and Borough Police Act 1856 or the Police Act 1856 (19 & 20 Vict c 69) was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was one of the Police Acts 1839 to 1893.The Short Titles Act 1896, section 2(1) and Schedule 2 The Act made it compulsory for a police force to be established in any county which had not previously formed a constabulary. The Act required that in any county where a constabulary had not already been established for all or part of the county, then the Justices of the Peace for the county should at the next General or Quarter Sessions held after December 1, 1856, proceed to establish a sufficient police force. Simon Byrne (police Officer)
Simon Byrne (born 29 April 1963) is a senior British police officer. He has served as Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) since July 2019. He was the Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police from 2009 to 2011 and the Assistant Commissioner for Territorial Policing in the Metropolitan Police Service from 2011 to 2014. David Whatton
David Whatton QPM is a retired British senior police officer. He was the Chief Constable of Cheshire Constabulary in Cheshire, England. He has previously held chief police officer roles with the West Midlands Police and Greater Manchester Police. Career David Whatton joined the West Midlands Police in April 1983. In December 2002 he joined Greater Manchester Police from the West Midlands Police as Assistant Chief Constable and became Deputy Chief Constable. Sir Peter Martin Fahy (born 18 January 1959 in London, England) is a retired senior British police officer. He was the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the United Kingdom's third largest police force. He retired from the police force on 23 October 2015 after serving for 34 years. John Douglas (English Architect)
John Douglas (11 April 183023 May 1911) was an English architect who designed over 500 buildings in Cheshire, North Wales, and northwest England, in particular in the estate of Eaton Hall. He was trained in Lancaster and practised throughout his career from an office in Chester. Initially he ran the practice on his own, but from 1884 until two years before his death he worked in partnerships with two of his former assistants.
