Cheryl Laemmle
Cheryl Laemmle (born 1947) is an American contemporary surrealist painter of figures, animals, and imaginary landscapes. Biography She is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota who received her bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University in 1974 and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in 1978. She was the recipient of a Creative Artists Public Service Program Fellowship in 1980, the Vera G. List Award for distinguished achievement in the visual arts in 1984, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1985. Her work has been exhibited widely in solo and group shows both in the United States and abroad; she was one of twenty-four artists to represent the United States at the 1984 Venice Biennale. KMAC Museum is an American art museum that "connects people to Art and Creative Practice". The museum is a 501c3 organization located in the West Main District of downtown Louisville, Kentucky History The museum was founded in 1981 as the Kentucky Art and Craft Foundation to build interest in the state’s craft heritage which quickly led to a one of a kind collection of American Folk Art from the region. In 2001, the organization relocated to its current home, a four-story historic cast iron structure. At that time, the organization changed its name to the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, still focusing on contemporary Kentucky artisans. Herbert Vogel (August 16, 1922 – July 22, 2012) and Dorothy Vogel (born 1935), once described as "proletarian art collectors," worked as civil servants in New York City for more than a half-century while amassing what has been called one of the most important post-1960s art collections in the United States, mostly of minimalist and conceptual art. Herbert Vogel died on July 22, 2012, in a Manhattan nursing home. Early years Herbert Vogel, known as Herb, was the son of a Russian Jewish garment worker from Harlem. Michael Lucero (sculptor)
Michael Lucero (born 1953) is an American ceramics artist and sculptor. Lucero works with multiple mediums and usually works in series. Lucero was born in 1953 in Tracy, California and attended Humboldt State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1975. He later attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts. Lucero now resides in Tennessee. His new series explore the abstract form of smaller figures glazed in his signature bright colors and eye-catching drawings.
