Cherryvale is an unincorporated community in Vigo and Clay counties, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. History Cherryvale was not formally laid out or platted. A post office was established at Cherryvale in 1899, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1904. Cherryvale is a city in Montgomery County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 2,192. History Cherryvale was founded on the land of the Osage Indians who were pushed out by veterans of the American Civil War looking for land. The first white man to purchase property and settle here was Mr. Abe Eaton, who later sold it to the Kansas City, Lawrence & Southern Kansas Railroad which then became the Leavenworth, Lawrence & Galveston Railway, and eventually came under the control of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, which operated the line for much of the 20th century. The town site was platted by the railroad in 1871. It was named Cherryvale from its position in the valley of Cherry Creek. Between 1871 and 1873, at least eleven people vanished in the vicinity of an inn and general store operated by the Bender family about eight miles () northeast of Cherryvale. It is included in the Sumter, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Cherryvale is located at (33.955147, -80.460221). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and (1.67%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 2,461 people, 982 households, and 591 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,390.9 people per square mile (536.8/km2).
