Alexander Chernyshyov
Prince Alexander Ivanovich Chernyshov (russian: Александр Иванович Чернышев, 1786, Moscow - 1857, Castellammare di Stabia), General of Cavalry (1827), was a Russian military leader, diplomat and statesman, whose career began in the Napoleonic Wars. After the Battle of Austerlitz (1805), he carried out successful diplomatic missions to France and Sweden and served with distinction in battles of 1812 and 1813. Chernyshyov rose through the ranks to the role of Russian Minister of War (1827–1852), chairman of the State Council and Cabinet of Ministers (1848–1856), and acquired the styles from Count (1826) to Serene Prince (1849). Princess Natalya Petrovna Golitsyna (; (Чернышёва); 28 January 17411 January 1838) was a Russian nobility, noblewoman, lady-in-waiting, socialite, and Dame (title), Dame of the Order of St. Catherine's first degree. Born into the noble Chernyshyov family, Natalya Petrovna was the daughter of the diplomat Pyotr Chernyshyov, ambassador to Berlin at the time of her birth. She moved with the family to London, following her father's duties as ambassador to the royal courts of Europe, and returned to Russia for periods. Appointed one of Empress Catherine the Great's maids of honour in 1762, she married Prince Vladimir Borisovich Golitsyn in 1766. Taking charge of the management of his estates, she greatly increased the family's fortunes, before the couple moved abroad with their family for their education. Alexey Andreyevich Chernyshyov (russian: Алексе́й Андре́евич Чернышёв; born on 29 March 1939) is a Russian politician who served as the 2nd Governor of Orenburg Oblast, Russia. Count Ivan Grigoryevich Chernyshyov (1726 – 1797; russian: Граф Иван Григорьевич Чернышёв) was an Imperial Russian Field Marshal and General Admiral, prominent during the reign of Empress Catherine the Great. Life and career He started his career serving under his more illustrious brother Zakhar Chernyshyov at the Russian missions in Copenhagen (1741) and Berlin (1742–45). In 1749 he was commanded to resign from diplomatic service and marry Countess Elizabeth Yefimovskaya, a cousin of Empress Elizabeth. All three Chernyshov brothers backed Catherine in the coup that placed her on the Russian throne in 1762, after the assassination of her husband, Peter III. Count Piotr Grigoryevich Chernyshev (; 24 March 1712 – 20 August 1773) was a Russian Imperial nobleman, diplomat, privy counsellor, chamberlain, and senator. A member of the Chernyshyov family, he was the son of (1672-1745) and Avdotya Rzhevskaya (1693-1747) and thus brother to Zakhar Chernyshev and Ivan Chernyshyov. He married Ekaterina Chernysheva and was the father of princess Natalya Golitsyna (1741-1837), inspiration for Pushkin's '' The Queen of Spades'', and of Countess Darya Saltykova, a friend of the French painter Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. Zakhar Chernyshyov
Zakhar Grigoryevich Chernyshev (172231 August 1784) was a Russian noble, courtier to Catherine the Great, Imperial Russian Army officer, and Imperial Russian politician in the 18th century. After made a courtier to then-Princess Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst in 1744, Chernyshev remained a favorite of the future Russian monarch into the 1770s. An Imperial Russian Army officer during the Seven Years' War, Chernyshev retired in 1764, and would be ultimately promoted to General Field Marshal by Catherine II. At her appointment, Chernyshev led the College of War from 1764–1774, served as her governor-general of the Pskov and Mogilev Governorates, and was the mayor of Moscow until his death.
