Cherneliv-Ruskyi
Cherneliv-Ruskyi ( uk, Чернелів-Руський) is a village in Baikivtsi rural hromada, Ternopil Raion, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. History Near the village, settlements of Trypillian, Early Iron Age, Chernyakhovska and Kievan Rus' cultures were discovered. Excavations of Bronze Age and Pomeranian burials, as well as an ancient grave field of Kievan Rus', have been carried out. The most famous archaeological site is the grave field of Chernyakhov culture, which was studied by Ternopil archaeologist Ihor Gereta for almost a quarter of a century. The first written mention of the is on 10 March 1410. Religion The village has a church, the Church of the Intercession, built out of brick in 1912 by architect O. Lushpynskyi. The village has a monument to Friar Mykola Mykhalevych, built in 2001 and sculpted by Vasyl Sadovnyk. Mykola Mykhalevych
Mykola Mykhalevych ( uk, Микола Михалевич; 1 July 1843 – 27 November 1922) was a Ukrainians, Ukrainian Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Greek Catholic priest, popularizer of beekeeping, public figure. Biography Mykola Mykhalevych was born on 1 July 1843 in Romashivka (now the Bilobozhnytsia rural hromada, Chortkiv Raion, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine). Mykhalevych studied theology in Lviv. In 1866 he was ordained a priest; he served in parishes in Chystyliv, Ternopil Raion, as a staff member at St. George's Cathedral, Lviv, St. George's Cathedral in Lviv, and in 1871–1914 in the parish of Cherneliv-Ruskyi. In his last years he lived with the parish priest, dean, and his student Sydor Hlynskyi, in Butsniv, Ternopil Raion, where he died on 27 November 1922. He was buried in Cherneliv-Ruskyi, Ternopil Raion. Public activities He was active in public life. In particular, he initiated the creation of the regional "Tovarystvo ukrainskykh pasichnykiv" in Ternopil (1913). ...
