The Cheran Superfast Express is an overnight Super Fast Express train in India which runs daily between Coimbatore Junction and Chennai Central via Salem Jn on the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. History It was inaugurated on Jul 05, 1984 as a day train between Coimbatore Junction and Madras Central, with Air-Conditioned Chair Car and Second Class Sitting coaches to run opposite Kovai Express was changed to run night time with Sleeper Coaches. At present, Coimbatore–Chennai Central Intercity is running in the old schedule of Cheran express Numbering Train Number 12673 runs from Chennai Central to Coimbatore Junction while 12674 runs from Coimbatore Junction to Chennai Central. The inaugural run of this express train is during Oct 01, 1969 on Wednesday. Rockfort Express
The Rockfort Express is a Superfast Express overnight Express rail connecting Tiruchirappalli with Chennai Egmore via Villupuram in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This train serves as the main connectivity to the state capital Chennai city and Tiruchirappalli city along the route. Background and Relevance The eponymous train is named after the famous 12th-century fortress Rockfort temple in the heart of Tiruchirapalli. The train originally ran between Madras Egmore and Tiruchirappalli Junction on the ' Chord Line'. Later, when the 'Main Line' was closed for operations to facilitate gauge conversion projects, a part of this train was extended to Thanjavur Junction as Rockfort Link Express (6177A/ 6178A). The Vaigai Superfast Express is a Intercity express typed super fast express train running daily between Madurai and Chennai via Tiruchirappalli operated by Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Due to the demand for a day train between Madurai and Madras, which gradually began to increase from the 1970s, the Southern Railway decided to introduce a super fast train for the first time on the MG in Southern railway. Vaigai Express is fondly called the "KING OF CHORD LINE" and both Vaigai Express and Pallavan Express are fondly known as 'CHORD LINE BROTHERS". Pallavan Express is an Intercity express typed superfast service operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This service connects the cities of Chennai to Karaikudi via Tiruchirappalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The rakes of this train was upgraded to brand new modern LHB rakes from 30 June 2019.
