Cheng Tien-fong
Cheng Tien-fong ( zh, c=程天放, p=Chéng Tiānfàng; 1899–1967), was a Chinese educator, politician and diplomat. Cheng was a former President of Zhejiang University, and former Minister of Education of the ROC. Biography Cheng's ancestral hometown was Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province. Cheng was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in 1899 in the late Qing Dynasty. Cheng's birth name was ''Xueyu'' (学愉). Cheng entered Hongdo Middle School (洪都 中学 Hóng-dōu zhōng-xué) in 1912, but soon was transferred into Xinyuan Middle School (心远中学 Xīn-yuǎn zhōng-xué). In 1917, Cheng entered Fudan Public School (复旦 公学 Fù-dàn gōng-xué; now Fudan University) in Shanghai. Cheng graduated in 1919. Examination Yuan
The Examination Yuan is the civil service commission branch, in charge of validating the qualification of civil servants, of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). It has a president, a vice president, and seven to nine members, all of whom are nominated by the president of the republic and confirmed by the Legislative Yuan for four-year terms according to Republic of China laws. Qing Dynasty
The Qing dynasty ( ), officially the Great Qing,, was a Manchu-led imperial dynasty of China and the last orthodox dynasty in Chinese history. It emerged from the Later Jin dynasty founded by the Jianzhou Jurchens, a Tungusic-speaking ethnic group who unified other Jurchen tribes to form a new "Manchu" ethnic identity. The dynasty was officially proclaimed in 1636 in Manchuria (modern-day Northeast China and Outer Manchuria). It seized control of Beijing in 1644, then later expanded its rule over the whole of China proper and Taiwan, and finally expanded into Inner Asia. The dynasty lasted until 1912 when it was overthrown in the Xinhai Revolution. Hiroshi Ōshima
Baron was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army, Japanese ambassador to Germany before and during World War II and (unwittingly) a major source of communications intelligence for the Allies. His role was perhaps best summed up by General George C. Marshall, who identified Ōshima as "our main basis of information regarding Hitler's intentions in Europe". After World War II, he was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment, but was paroled in 1955. Anhui Province
Anhui , (; formerly romanized as Anhwei) is a landlocked province of the People's Republic of China, part of the East China region. Its provincial capital and largest city is Hefei. The May Fourth Movement was a Chinese anti-imperialist, cultural, and political movement which grew out of student protests in Beijing on May 4, 1919. Students gathered in front of Tiananmen (The Gate of Heavenly Peace) to protest the Chinese government's weak response to the Treaty of Versailles decision to allow Japan to retain territories in Shandong that had been surrendered to Germany after the Siege of Tsingtao in 1914.
