Chen Xi (politician)
Chen Xi (; born 16 September 1953) is a Chinese politician currently serving as the head of the Organization Department of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and president of the Central Party School. Between 2017 and 2022, Chen has was a member of the Politburo of the CCP and a secretary of the Secretariat of the CCP. A graduate from Tsinghua University, Chen served as the party chief of the institution from 2002 to 2008. Thereafter he served as a vice-minister of education and vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology. Early career Chen traces his ancestry to Putian, Fujian province, and was born in the provincial capital Fuzhou. He worked in his youth at a mechanics factory attached to Fuzhou University. Shortly after the resumption of higher education at the end of the Cultural Revolution, Chen was recommended to attend Tsinghua University as a "Worker-Peasant-Soldier student", where he earned a bachelor's degree. The Cultural Revolution, formally known as the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, was a sociopolitical movement in the People's Republic of China (PRC) launched by Mao Zedong in 1966, and lasting until his death in 1976. Its stated goal was to preserve Chinese communism by purging remnants of capitalist and traditional elements from Chinese society. The Central Leading Group for Inspection Work () is a coordination body set up under the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the purpose of managing party disciplinary inspections nationwide. Inspection work began in the early 1990s and was a collaboration between the Organization Department and the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the party's anti-graft body. The decision to formally establish the leading group was announced in November 2009 by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. The Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (), commonly known as the Central Party School (), located in Beijing, is the higher education institution which trains Chinese Communist Party (CCP) cadres. As of 2012, it has around 1,600 students. The current president is Chen Xi, a member of the CCP Politburo. The location of the school is now in Haidian district, Beijing close to the Old Summer Palace and Summer Palace. The 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (commonly referred to as ''Shíjiǔ Dà''; ) was held at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, between 18 and 24 October 2017. 2,280 delegates represented the party's estimated 89 million members. Deng Nan () (born October 1945 in Guang'an, Sichuan) is a Chinese politician and physicist. Early life Deng was born the second daughter of Deng Xiaoping with his third wife Zhuo Lin. Deng studied physics at Peking University from 1964 to 1970. During university, she was secretary of the branch Communist Youth League of China. In Spring 1968, Nie Yuanzi directed Red Guards to detain Deng and her elder brother Deng Pufang.
