Chemturion
The Chemturion is a multi-use, positive pressure totally encapsulating protective suit, manufactured by ILC Dover. It is currently used by Public Health Canada, Boston University, USAMRIID and AI Signal Research, the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, and many industrial companies such as DuPont, Dow, and Georgia Pacific.ILC DoverPPE -Personal-Protection-Equipment Retrieved on 2011-02-11. The Chemturion is based on technology developed by ILC Dover as part of the development of the Demilitarization Protective Ensemble, a one-piece disposable suit used in chemical weapons disposal. Racal Suit
A Racal suit (also known as a Racal space suit) is a protective suit with a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR). It consists of a plastic suit and a battery-operated blower with HEPA filters that supplies filtered air to a positive-pressure hood (also known as a Racal hood). Racal suits were among the protective suits used by the Aeromedical Isolation Team (AIT) of the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases to evacuate patients with highly infectious diseases for treatment. Originally, the hood was manufactured by Racal Health & Safety, a subsidiary of Racal Electronics located in Frederick, Maryland, the same city where AIT was based. A biological hazard, or biohazard, is a biological substance that poses a threat to the health of living organisms, primarily humans. Demilitarization Protective Ensemble
The Demilitarization Protective Ensemble (DPE) is a heat-sealed, one-time-use positive pressure personnel suit. These airtight suits are used by the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency to provide the highest level of protection against chemical agent exposure for workers accessing areas of chemical weapon disposal plants where chemical weapons are disassembled and the agent destroyed. Workers at Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility and other disposal sites have successfully completed tens of thousands of entries into these areas wearing DPE suits. With supporting equipment, the suit weighs about 50 pounds. Donning the suit takes between 30 and 45 minutes, with the assistance of a team of dressers.
