Chemogoh Kevin Dzang
Rear Admiral Chemogoh Kevin Dzang (27 July 1941 — 29 December 2009) was born at Nandom in the Upper West Region of Ghana. He is a retired naval officer and a former Chief of Naval Staff of the Ghana Navy. He also served Ghana as a Secretary of State for Defence and an ambassador to Japan with concurrent accreditations to the Commonwealth of Australia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand. Early life and education Born at Nandom in the Lawra-Nandom district of the Upper West Region of Ghana, Dzang was educated at the Nandom Local Authority Primary School from 1948 to 1953 and the Lawra Middle School from 1954 to 1955. Having passed the Common Entrance Examination, he was admitted to the Government Secondary School at Tamale from 1956 to 1960. Upper West Region
The Upper West Region of Ghana is located in the north-western corner of Ghana and is bordered by Upper East region to the east, Northern region to the south, and Burkina Faso to the west and north. The Upper West regional capital and largest settlement is Wa. The Upper West was created by the then Head of State, Flight-Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings in 1983 under the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) military regime. The area was carved out of the former Upper Region, which is now the Upper East Region. Mahama Iddrisu
Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu is a Ghanaian politician and a businessman. Iddrisu was a member of the Provisional National Defence Council and he is a former Minister for Defence. He is a founding member of the National Democratic Congress. He is the longest-serving Minister of Defence of Ghana, serving from 1985 to 1999, for 14 years. Naa Polku Konkuu Chiiri was a Ghanaian teacher, traditional leader and politician. He served as a member of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) military government. Politics Naa Polku Konkuu Chiiri was appointed as a PNDC member in 1982. He was one of many chiefs to be given political positions under the PNDC. He was later also made the Secretary for Defence between 1982 and 1983. Nandom-Na Naa Polku Konkuu Chiiri was the chief or traditional leader of the people of Nandom.
