Chemicals is an extended play by the band Love and Death and was released on April 24, 2012. History The band's debut single, "Chemicals", was released in early May, while their debut EP of the same name released on April 24, 2012. Welch revealed that they would be releasing a cover of the song " Whip It" by Devo and a remix of "Paralyzed" by Har Meggido. The music video for "Chemicals" premiered on May 7, 2012. Love And Death (band)
Love and Death is an American Christian metal band formed by Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. The group was officially announced in February 2012 as a re-branding of Welch's solo music project. History Formation and early years (2009–2012) The group is effectively a re-branding of the touring group that performed under Welch's name to promote his solo album. Formed in 2009, Welch recruited musicians through open auditions via YouTube, and second-round auditions, in person, at his studio in Phoenix, Arizona. The original group was a six-piece group, that featured Michael Valentine on bass, Ralph Patlan on guitar, Brian Ruedy on keyboards, Scott "SVH" Von Heldt on guitars and vocals and Dan Johnson on drums. After two years of touring, Von Heldt departed the band due to financial reasons, whereas Ruedy was let go a few months earlier and later joined Whitesnake. Brian Welch
Brian Philip Welch (born June 19, 1970), also known by his stage name Head, is an American musician. He is one of the guitarists and founding member of the nu metal band Korn and his solo project Love and Death, where he also provides vocals. Along with fellow Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, Welch helped develop Korn's distinctive sound (a mix of sirenlike shards of dissonant guitar that mimicked a turntablist's various effects and rumbling down-tuned riffing) that defined the nu metal aesthetic beginning in the mid-'90s. After becoming a born again Christian, Welch left the band in 2005 to focus on life as a father and to pursue his own solo career. Joe Rickard
Joe Rickard is an American drummer, record producer and mixing engineer. He was the drummer for the band Red from 2008 through 2014 and Swedish heavy metal band In Flames from 2016 through 2019. He then began primarily writing, mixing and producing, often working with music producer Howard Benson. Biography Rickard started drumming at the age of 13. At the age of 17, when he was in high school, he started playing music professionally. He was auditioned by a band called Sky Harbor and left his home and highschool to pursue his musical career. Rickard is the former drummer for Swedish heavy metal band In Flames and Grammy Award-nominated band Red. Dan Johnson is an American drummer currently with American rock band Soundmankillz and formerly with the Christian rock band Red, Christian metal band Love and Death, rock metal band Back from Ashes, and hard rock band The Sammus Theory. History Having grown up in Pennsylvania, Johnson played drums in the band UO4 throughout his high school career. After starting his adulthood in Phoenix, his drumming career in Arizona began with local band Mo Nasty, after which time he moved on to The Sammus Theory. "Chemicals" is the debut single from Love and Death ("Paralyzed" was released under the name 'Brian "Head" Welch'). The song is included on both ''Chemicals'' and ''Between Here & Lost'', and was ranked No. 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Singles Sales chart. Premise According to JesusFreakHideout, the song seems to talk about Welch's substance addiction. Welch states that the composition refers to battling depression, chemical warfare and the cage that is drug addiction. Reviews Liz Ramanand of Loudwire describes the song as being one of the strongest songs on ''Between Here & Lost'', in that it leans toward being melodic and is catchy with ear shattering guitar verses. Gerald Vincent "Jerry" Casale ( ) ( ''né'' Pizzute; born July 28, 1948) is an American musician. He came to prominence in the late 1970s as co-founder, co-lead vocalist, and bass player of the new wave band Devo, which released a top 20 hit in 1980 with the single " Whip It". Casale is the main lyricist and one of the main composers of Devo's music and directed most of Devo's music videos.
