Chemi Shalev
Chemi Shalev ( he, מנחם "חמי" שלו; born 14 April 1953) is an Israeli journalist. Biography Menachem (Chemi) Shalev was born in Washington, D.C. Shalev is married with three daughters and lives in Givatayim. Journalism career Shalev began his journalism career at the Jerusalem Post under David Landau. He was the US correspondent for ''Haaretz'' newspaper in 2011-2016. He publishes an English-language blog called "West of Eden" dealing with Israel–United States relations and the American Jewish community. Previously, Shalev was deputy editor and diplomatic commentator for ''Israel Hayom'' newspaper. He served as diplomatic correspondent for ''The Jerusalem Post'', ''Davar'' and ''Ma'ariv''. ''Davar'' ( he, דבר, lit. ''Word'') was a Hebrew-language daily newspaper published in the British Mandate of Palestine and Israel between 1925 and May 1996. It was relaunched in 2016, under the name ''Davar Rishon'' as an online outlet by the Histadrut. History ''Davar'' was established by Moshe Beilinson and Berl Katznelson, with Katznelson as its first editor, as the newspaper of the Histadrut. The mass media in Israel refers to print, broadcast and online media available in the State of Israel. The country boasts dozens of newspapers, magazines, and radio stations, which play an important role by the press in political, social and cultural life and cater it to a modern, developed and literate society. There are over 10 different languages in the Israeli media, with Hebrew as the predominant one. Press in Arabic caters to the Arab citizens of Israel, with readers from areas including those governed by the Palestinian National Authority. During the eighties and nineties, the Israeli press underwent a process of significant change as the media gradually came to be controlled by a limited number of organizations, whereas the papers published by political parties began to disappear. ''The Australian Jewish News'' (''AJN'') is a newspaper published in Darlinghurst, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Since 2019 it has been a local partner of ''The Times of Israel''. ''Maariv'' () is a Hebrew-language daily newspaper published in Israel. From Sunday to Thursday, it is printed under the ''Ma'ariv Hashavu'a'' () brand, while the weekend edition that is out on Friday is called ''Ma'ariv SofHashavu'a'' (). A daily, abridged version of the newspaper, called ''Ma'ariv Haboker'' (), is distributed for free every morning during the week. ''The Jerusalem Post'' is a broadsheet newspaper based in Jerusalem, founded in 1932 during the British Mandate of Palestine by Gershon Agron as ''The Palestine Post''.
